What I just don’t understand for the life of me is why they continue to have kids despite the costs of healthcare, lack of maternity leave, school shootings, etc. Wouldn’t bringing children into a society like that be considered child abuse? Even if I was a married person in (say) Iceland or New Zealand where children lead much better lives I wouldn’t even want to bring a child into a world where the USA even exists. Just my two cents at least.

For all the academic books that have been published over the years defining and describing fascism as an ideological family, I stumbled across an elegantly succinct explanation from /r/discoelysium of all places.
For context, OP posted to the sub complaining that he was trying to do a fascist run of the game, so geared his character to “traditionalism” and picked all the dialogue options that fit with that. The problem is that his character took a morale hit whenever he did so, and the in-game mechanics were making that a pain in the ass. Thus he wanted to know if there was a way to mitigate and get around that.
This reply from /u/RecalcitrantJester is where that succinct description came out to shine, and I have yet to find a better explanation for the misery that is being a MAGA loon or a Neo-Nazi. The bolded part at the end is the tl;dr.

Even after Trump dies the misogynistic entertainment industry which elevated him, Weinstein, Spacey and others high status, as well as the corrupt justice system which helped him, Kissinger, Bush Jr., Cheney and others escape prison will still remain, and Americans will just elect another person to run on the same platform. Then there’s the whole education system which I myself don’t have effective answers for. Fix those three and the USA can start making progress. Otherwise it’ll be doomed to remain stuck in 1776 for all time.

I’m glad someone is pointing this out. The claim that undocumented immigrants aren’t “subject to the jurisdiction” of the U.S. is so batshit insane that it shouldn’t have to be spelled out, but here we are. We couldn’t even deport them if that was the case. (Consider a diplomat declared persona non grata. They can be asked to leave, but they can’t be deported unless the host country stops recognizing them as a diplomat.)
