Season 8 Episode Discussion [Spoilers, possible leaks, rumours etc.]

Because the writers have done a piss poor job of getting me to give a shit about them or the school. They could have been interesting characters by giving them flaws and huge issues to fix, but barring Gallus who’s actually managed to have that, the rest are incredibly lame and have already been pushed to the forefront and already made to be best friends without any trials and tribulations. And to have the series end with them replacing the mane 6 as the bearers of the elements with all those problems would just end the series on an incredibly sour note for me

As far I know, the 80’s Transformers movie was made specifically to kill a lot of characters and change the TV series on a way that it could introduce tons of new characters to take their place -and to push their new toys as well.
 
It backfired so badly that the series had to bring back Optimus Prime, it also forced Hasbro to make a crappy edit on the GIJOE movie to unkill Duke, and I cannot understand why other shows never learned from this mistake: change is fine, but if you change what made an IP popular in the first place, things will backfire and explode in your face.

I loved that episode, one of the season’s best, but I mainly loved it for what it did for Gallus, who I’m more willing to go to bat for than the rest

But part of what made the 80’s movie so good, for me, was that it showed that the Decepticons don’t mess around.

Pretty much, the guy gets impaled in the chest by a spear, yet they still changed it to him getting in a coma

During the movie, Duke takes a snake spear that was meant for another Joe and dies.

Following the brutal backlash from Optimus’ death, Hasbro made a sloppy edit of that scene, where new dialog states that Duke goes into a coma, and at the end of the movie a narrator announces he made a full recovery.  
In the original version, Duke dies and the Joes hold a militar funeral for him before marching to their final attack against Cobra.
 
Also, “Cobra-La” and Cobra’s idiotic “COBRALALALALALA” battlecry were Hasbro’s execs idea, as “Cobra-la” was only a placeholder name but the execs liked it so it stayed.

No. Usually, they tried to either enact revenge… Or became more machine than a man.

|| Basic conflict can be summed up by the song from SDCC, Kirens ignite when they argue, they did it to the point they burned down their village and took an oath of silence, and now Applejack and Fluttershy need to show them how to properly argue so they don’t burn each other with their words or go completely silent. Applejack is more in the lead here with Fluttershy being more of a support to her, though it seems to have Fluttershy alternating between being overly frightened ala Season 1 and her more confident self when she argues with Applejack though she arguablly saves the day when some squirrels she made friends with earlier in the episode have the cure for the Kiren. Most of the second act for instance ditches Fluttershy as Applejack finds Rachel Bloom character. And really not all that much screen time for Autumn Blaze. She has a quick introduction, sings her song, Applejack goes back knowing what the problem is and then she saves them and the Kiren learn how to control their anger, so she’s only really in it for less than half the episode. Can’t really say how I feel on this one. ||
