Should be put up against a wall.
Hey, looks like we found a use for that one Trump’s having built after all.
With plenty of room for him, the rest of his corrupt administration, and all the sycophantic legislators who have decided self interest and whatever fleeting power they can grasp is worth more than the ideals and best interests of their country.

What sunk Delevoye was the press revealing that he also held the position of administrator for an insurance training institute, something he conveniently omitted to declare to the HATVP, the French organism that enforces transparency for politicians. He tried to downplay it at first, but then more revelations came about his ties with the private, and more specifically the insurance sector, until the conflict of interest was so blatant he couldn’t decently keep his position.
Doesn’t mean Macron has given up on reforming the pension system yet, but at least that’s one less corrupt lackey to worry about.

I don’t entirely disagree with your overall point here (I like “slutty” girls), but “incel dudebro” is a bit of a contradiction in terms. Dudebros want incels to be stuffed into lockers until they form Strong Families, overcome their unmanly emotions, or die; incels may envy their status, but they hate them nevertheless.
Incel dudebros: “SJWs have ruined women, they won’t have sex anymore, the sexual revolution is over reee”.

That’s the idea and it sure is with the UPR we’re gonna get this done. Just spent the afternoon about this whole thing.
Delevoye was a corrupted to the bone to begin with, member of a think-tank, etc.
The Benalla affair. A criminal in power, literally Macron’s minion, attacking protesters with a group. Ismaël Emelien and his attempts to protect Benalla (and have resigned to avoid trouble)
The Alstom-GE negotiations and arrangements/negotiations.
Richard Ferrand, conflicts of interests too, appointed by Macron.
Alexis Kohler, resigned from the gov to manage MSC, conflicts of interests.
Pénicaud/Havas, a contract at 400,000eur. for “interviewing” Macron while he was minister of economy and finances.
De Rugy, who used the funds of the ecology ministry to renovate his apartments/houses. (That’s public funds)
Françoise Nyssen, Macron’s favorite propagandist and tool, has huge suspicions on arrangements with the president for ignoring the urbanization standards of Paris for her Actes Sud edition group.
Flessel & Co, close to the PM and Macron, Laura Flessel is accused of tax evasion but was sure Macron would protect her.
Most of the time the staff of Macron either resigns, either there’s a start of investigation and the investigation ends with almost no follow-up.
Macron knows who he’s working with, it’s a fucking mafia. And let’s not count the police search in various journals (Mediapart) or politicians (Le Pen, Mélenchon) all on the request of the government. Imagine, you’re doing politics or reporting events, hold a newspaper, exploding the bullshitometer or not, and one day there’s a bunch of armed cops knocking at your door.
@Ereiam
Yeah, knowing this guy’s background it’s even incredible he haven’t been judged for conflicts of interests to begin with. If they can fall one by one like this, maybe this is how we will erode this government that does nothing, not for one side, not for the other.

It will certainly take a long while and a lot of effort before the last of it gets fixed, but any damage can heal given enough time.
George Takei said as much (this tweet has already been linked here, I believe).
Hope is the most precious thing to hold if we want a better future, so even if Trump has damaged that too, losing it altogether would make it all the harder to fix the rest.

I respect Takei’s opinion. But I can’t help but feel the sentiment of “We healed from having concentration camps 80 years ago” becomes a bit sour knowing that we’re doing the concentration camp thing again.
It’s nice that yeah, we can recover. But we can clearly regress too. Especially since it took some 8 or so decades to recover but all it took was some 1 decade to fall.

Trump would have to actually build some new wall if you wanted to use it for that.
Otherwise you’ll have to use the existing Clinton/Bush/Obama wall.
Maybe you could put Trump against the wall the previous presidents built for the crime of not building any wall. That would be an interesting juxtaposition of fantasy and reality.

Had you bothered to follow the whole conversation instead of blindly replying to the last post, you’d know that the accused wasn’t Trump and the capital offense wasn’t his imaginary wall that he loves to brag about so much, but the seemingly endemic and bottomless crass ignorance among conservatives (that only Hanlon’s razor forbids me to call pure malice) from which the idea of it — which actually constitutes one of the lesser harmful ones (if only by virtue of not having been properly enacted), especially in comparison of some others like the aforementioned exhibit — originated.

Vox to cut hundreds of freelance jobs ahead of changes in California gig economy laws.
It won’t just affect freelance journalists, it’ll affect other industries such as Uber and Lyft drivers, food deliverers, etc.
I wonder how much red tape California will have to choke on before it realized that overregulation is not the way to go.

The gig economy is a double edged blade, do not be so quick to wholly defend it.
California’s attempt is admirable, if somewhat misguided.
Make no mistake, a lot of the companies take advantage of their “contractors”, and I won’t even talk about the numerous health and safety violations that wrack them. Their wage skimming is also insane, with some drivers barely able to pay back their incurred debts.
Regulation is needed. Not the way Cali is going about it, but you’re a fool if you think these companies should be given free reign to do as they please.

Even before “the gig economy”, companies abusing contractor status to get around labor regulations was common enough to be joked about. It’s just that Uber etc. turned it into their entire business model.
@Lord Goku
Yeah, no. If you’re the editor-in-chief of an SB Nation team blog, you’re an employee of SB Nation. There are not that many teams in all the major leagues; Vox can afford to pay 123 people. (149 if you give a shit about MLS.)
