Season 4 episode discussion (Stream & episode links in first post)

I went to a private school, my parents burned a lot of money, relatively, to get me in it. 90% of kids born from rich families are spoiled; some are ignorant of how spoiled they are, some love to flaunt it. Sure, that 10% exists, but it’s still one out of ten.

And having spent much of my life in the country, I can tell you there is some truth to the drunk hooligan redneck stereotype. But that doesn’t mean I think the stereotype applies to everyone from the country. Nor do I feel the need to take piss takes at them.  
I don’t think the show should take piss takes like that at any specific demographic. But if they feel the need to, they might as well be fair about it.

They kind of are fair. That Turnip pony in Sweet & Elite is a thing, and they never stop pointing out how uncultured Applejack is.

Lauren’s episodes were okay, but not amazing. The majority of the episodes this fandom considers “best” were written by some writer named Meghan McCarthy. That name sounds rather familiar…
 
Now it would be nice to see Rob Renzetti return, but he’s got Gravity Falls to deal with now.
 
We definitely need more deconstruction. This show is at its best when it lampoons li’l girl show tropes, and it hasn’t done it enough lately. “Simple Ways” came close, since nothing came of the romance, but Rarity’s over-the-top reaction to Trenderhoof - though hilarious - was played disturbingly straight.

Yes, but Applejack’s uncultured nature has never really been portrayed as negative. Blueblood, Jet Set, and Upper Crust’s snobby attitude has. Also, as I stated earlier, Hayseed didn’t cause any trouble. He wasn’t rude. He was just being himself. The Elite have been portrayed as being rude.  
In addition to this, when the Rarity’s friends crashed a social event like hooligans in Sweet and Elite, there were no repercussions for them, and their act of doing so was never portrayed in the wrong.

And then I went to law school, where a third of the kids were there because they wanted to be rich lawyers like their daddies and another third wanted to get into politics.

Yes it was, but it was more “stole a cookie from the cookie jar” and less “massive property damage and the ruination of hours if not days of hard work”.

Well, I have no experience with high class society since I have never been near one, so I’ll take you guys’ words for it. I was just wondering if snobby rich kids is just another overblown stereotype that is much rarer than what media depicts.

Well, the Apples were ultimately wrong in the Cider episode, seeing as the problem hasn’t been solved, and another shortage is going to occur in another year.

It’s not, it’s really not. When you hear the rich kids trying to outdo eachother over how big their second homes are or about how hot their maids look or whatever inane pissing match of the day for the umpteenth time, well, you get the idea.

To be fair, that sounds like the same thing us poor kids do with, “How high i can climb a tree” or “My dad can fix any car in 10 minutes flat,” Pissing matches are apart of the world, just different subject matter,

Kids and young adults are never mature. True, being rich without earning it yourself doesn’t help but it does not translate that the wealthy adults deserve getting the piss taken out of them.  
Because earning your own way will beat the immaturity out of you through stress (and high earners are more stressed statistically speaking) even if you were the immature rich kid.

I just watched that teaser on Facebook. I’m am more intrigued than I’ve ever been.
 
Now for some glass half-emptiness: || The Ponytones aren’t a professional or famous group, just an aggregate of characters we know and some random guy, there’s a friendship lesson to be had there. The only reason Big Mac is in the episode is an excuse to bring back Flutterguy. He takes center stage and still says nothing and will probably not be seen again outside this scene. Peter probably isn’t even working this episode. And it’s official, Rarity is a darn dirty husbando stealer.||
