Almost every writer working on the staff has a clear bias towards certain characters. Honestly, it’s usually either Twilight or Rarity. Although AKR’s is probably Pinkie. The rest? Pfff.

This probably won’t be a key episode unless singing is suddenly Fluttershy’s thing. Rarity got her key in a fashion episode, Rainbow in an athletic episode, Pinkie in a party episode. Fluttershy should get her key in an animal episode. Applejack in an…apple episode (what else?) and Twilight will probably get hers’ in the finale.

I thought the epiphany to conclude the story arc would involve Twilight getting her key. She is the main character after all unless they are trying to deliberately avert that. We all know she’s the keystone anyway.

The episode has her name in it, and the previous 3 keys have had the character name in them. Then again, Pinkie Apple Pie had both AJ and PP’s names and no key, so it’s not a guarantee.

This episode could be pretty good I think. The vague way that is worded, it’s possible that Fluttershy is overprotective and smothering, and the conflict is the Breezies being annoyed with her, and Fluttershy coming to terms with the idea that not everything needs constant care.

That’s what I hope for, at least. I don’t really have any patience left for another doormat episode.

Two Fluttershy episodes so close together? It’s gonna be weird when she learns the same lesson for the 5th and 6th time with such a tiny gap between them.

Also, timing. Shouldn’t this episode have happened right after Three’s Company? Fluttershy was already back in Ponyville for Pinkie Pride…

Maybe it’s not like the whole pets and games one, but the Breezeies followed her home when they realized they could totally sucker her in, and the lesson she learns is like what would have happened if Discord would have stayed chaotic evil instead of chaotic trollish?

To be honest, I thought the same about early synopsis’ for Simple Ways. It sounded like they may go with an unconventional and more interesting approach.

But if that is her key episode you may be right, and it will be about the kindness in letting others take care of themselves.

I finally managed to watch the new episode.

OW OW OW.

My brain hurts.
After the absolute genius of “Pinkie Pride”, this was just… painful.

Trenderhoof’s an ass. He is a facile jerk, who falls head over hooves in love with AJ, just because of his fetish. No argument about it, he has a country fetish.
That has no bearing in MLP, I think.
The “romance” made me want to scratch my eyes out. It was literally no real “romance”, just goofy love-on-first-sight warmy hearty bullcrap. I hate that. I hate it. I mega-loathe it.
It’s contrived, it’s lazy and it is boooooo-ring.
Rarity is just as shallow as Trenderhoof, if not more. Instead of talking to someone about her feelings, she goes the bitch route and tries to play into his fetish. And she does that in the most racist, callous way imagineable: By pretty much portraying a really offensive stereotype of a southerner.
Just… no.
Spike reacted way less than he usually would’ve. This is his crush acting just like he does, he notices it full and well, and what does he do? Throw a sarcastic look to the viewer.

And AJ was pretty cool all the way through… Until the end. Then the shit really hit the fan, and the plot sticks its own head so far up its ass, that it can probably see its own oesophagus.
How does AJ making fun of Rarity make the situation any better?
THIS FIGHTING FIRE WITH FIRE. THAT NEVER WORKS.

All in all, this episode was crap. Utter crap.

Just gonna comment on this. Spike could tell that Trenderhoof was no threat to his crush on Rarity easily. I mean, look at how fucking obsessed she was.
