Because it’s better than mass numbers of dead. I’ve never tortured any ponies before anyways. Only monsters responsible for evil deeds resulting in the deaths of several pony deaths and injuries. Every kill I have is clean, nothing done in cold blood or bad/evil intent. That’s how I work, and it is to be how I shall continue working.
If I were an absolute monarch, I’d have you go to anger management or something to instill some level of empathy, just for those statements. That’s, like, criminal-level psychopathy, right there.
I mean, what does that even accomplish, other than growing and reinforcing the part of your brain that takes pleasure in others’ suffering? That’s just messed up.
@Cirrus Light
Fun Fact: Starlight Glimmer isn’t the first, and she won’t be the last. You think all ponies followed Celestia’s rule? There’s been Luna’s moon colonization, the shadow race, the Griffin rebellion, the Nightmare Order. And the list doesn’t stop there, as there were the years before the Royal Sister’s birth. There was a lot of bloodshed in those years, and I got lots ‘o dough. I was also paid in bits, but money doesn’t hold much worth to me. Nowadays, I’m paid in universal teleportation, food, money, and weapons by Celestia to search the planet for monsters. So far, Starlight fills the monster quota with an A+.

Woah. Removed their cutie marks? Well then, I’ll go tie the noose and find a good tree, bring her to me when you’re done with the pre-execution torture.
Yeahno, you’re just looking for justification to kill somepony, aren’t ya?
@C Money
Whoops! Okay, I totally would kill Starlight. Hell, if I had a chance to knock her out, I’d practice my “fun” on her. And don’t say it’s unjust, like what she did was at all just! She’s seduced multiple individuals and held the mane six against their will.
@Cirrus Light
Who says that I’d eat Srarlight? I liberate those being held under ludicrous circumstances, help those who ask or need it, and hunt things that I’m hired to kill… I try to avoid the RG because of my records.
@Cirrus Light
What In Sam Hill Are You Saying? My Shotgun Wouldn’t Work!? A: there’s several different types of shells with different projectiles, and B: What explains the dead dragon in my backyard? Or that werewolf-skin rug in my bedroom? And especially my freezer filled with Pokémon meat! Ever tried Raichu steak? It’s shockingly tasty.
@C Money
I feel rather confident in saying that that blast probably had considerably more energy in it than a shotgun blast.
A 5.56x45mm NATO round puts out about ~1,700 J, equivalent to the collected power of a 120W light bulb for 14 seconds. Starlight’s beam lasts about 5 seconds, and in light energy alone seems to be putting out far more power than a 120W lightbulb, never mind kinetic energy or the energy required to heat air - assuming the air is heated - or ionized, if it’s ionized (beam makes me think ionized because of magnets, and the helical motion around her horn being somewhat reminiscent of the path of an electrically charged particle in a magnetic field ^[1][2, page 49] ).
