A good deal of how you see yourself, is often taken from how others see you. If someone believes in you and sees you as good, then that can have a powerful influence on how you see yourself - especially when said person is a big figure like Princess Twilight, and has forced respect (whether Starlight acknowledges it or not) by beating Starlight.

Technically it was more working on her finesse and agility. She never once overpowered Twilight in the finale, and this animation only demonstrates that she couldn’t overpower her back then either.
 
She went with a different approach that took presumably weeks of planning, and as we saw, it had worked out much better, and nearly succeeded, way “better” than she could’ve ever imagined.

Yeah. Lovely sunrise, Cortana telling all the telltale signs of it being artificial and saying that yet, she doesn’t know if it “looks” real. Meanwhile, Chief is just putting his weapons together taking no notice of any of it. Before Cortana suggests it, you’re probably already thinking she’s the more human of them.

It’s kinda funny and awkward, though. I haven’t played 5 yet, but through 4, it was an interesting theme they played on. Cortana at one point expressing that she wasn’t sure which one of them was the machine, and saying things like “don’t let me be your only hope for a normal life…”
 
The guy really has been raised as nothing more than a soldier since childhood, his entire existence to defend humanity.

To tell the truth, that’s if my first blow didn’t kill her. I mostly fight hideous mutations, tyrannical dragons, corrupted magic experiments, rarely do I ever kill ponies. The only ones I’ve ever killed were corrupt politicians or gang Lords. Otherwise, I use my strength and precision to help out the ponies. They consider me “a nice guy to have around”. Hell, most kids like to hear about my personal adventures. Caves I’ve explored, mountains I’ve climbed, jungles I’ve hiked, temples I’ve examined ‘n’ studied, not every dangerous thing I do involves killing. Daring Do even says that I’m a good exploration partner.

We seem to have gone head-first into a fanfic with moral philosophies I’m not sure I agree with. I think Celestia was pretty thoroughly cornered. Nightmare Moon was more concerned with killing her than taking power in the canonical depiction of events. I think if she tried to step down and let Nightmare Moon rule, her first move would be to have Celestia executed, then come eternal night and no Celestia to save her beloved subjects.

She hired me before she banished her own sister to the moon. Hell, I even told her that there’s more than two ways to stop an evil like what she became. You can also give them what they want, and she could watch that not be enough. The corruption world only grow more hungry. Hungry enough to be weak, and weak enough that you can remove it. No blood. No death. And the only pain comes from a corruption that was born surrounded by it. Why else do you think she keeps me? That, and I will die to protect this land. Even if I was the one pulling my own trigger, or throwing myself in front of an incoming arrow, or being the sacrifice that ensures eternal peace.

Once again, Starlight would be my first. I’ve killied ponies, but that was mostly during the Equestrian Dark Ages. Those times were filled with pony-on-pony violence already. It was the time of the four factions: The Unicorns, The Pegasi, the Earth Ponies, and The United. At first, I didn’t give a damn who I killed. I did what I was hired to do. I was from the badlands, not so a pleasant place it is. Then, I saw this war and knew that it ment more lots of work. Then, I saw what was going more specifically within the war. The United showed that the leaders of the three races didn’t want unity so much that they started a war. The heart that rid the Wendigos but the main leaders hated the ideas that the three ponies gave them. I killed those three leaders at long range using flaming arrows that had protected messages on them. These messages saved me from having to drag those leaders to my old place of living and force unity into them. They were blind fools, and Starlight’s eyes were wide open. If you’re eyes are open and you bring injustice, then you deserve to have your eyelids cut off to continueusly see the horror that you created. Celestia hired me to hunt monsters and threats to Equestria… And Starlight is more than a monster.

I don’t see how torturing her would do any good, though. I mean, I was appalled at you saying you’d torture her, then you said what amounts to “I don’t do bad things and torture unless it saves many lives,” and now you’re saying you’d torture her again even though it clearly wouldn’t save a whole bunch of lives…
 
With the whole torturing pastel cartoon ponies, can we just… Not? :p
