And here I thought the fandom exists because people enjoy the show, and that there’s not only one way or reason people can enjoy something. Sounds like someone (well, a lot of people really) needs to go learn the lesson from Stranger Than Fan Fiction again.

You’re remembering it wrongly.

Bronies exist because they enjoy MLP:FIM, entirety or just partly. Sometimes having some serious analysis or discussion is part of that fun.

But once it becomes bickering and getting angry and / or becomes personal / meta, then the fun ends there.

As for my reason why I mostly shut up from all of these whole ordeal is simply because people start basing other actual people morality from fictional character treatment or its morality. Dont get me wrong, Im fine with peoples opinions on shows characters. Some people like villains being redeemed. As flawed as it is to other people, who could blame them? They enjoy the redemption.

Some other people just like evil fictional character without actually liking actual evil people in real life. Its not that those people are being evil, heartless, or “haters”, far from it. They enjoy the character, that’s all. I liked Chrysalis being evil and irredeemable as she can, yet I’m basically one of Chrysalis biggest fanboy because I enjoyed her character.

And also theres the fact that real people cannot be categorized as purely evil or good, black or white. It’s not as simple as that. Morality is subjective at best. Shows like FIM makes a clear distinction between those two moralities, but you cant simply apply it to real life (atleast for nearly all of them).

Thats my bit of a rant. Probably being deleted for being “too meta” but this is my once and done take of this whole situation. I hope people give this some thought atleast.

The original series was also like G4 if not even further.

G4 is the return to form that made MLP something more then a commercial and paid head to the legacy.

Besides, just look at the Star Trek fandom - the first series was produced well before most of us were born, yet plenty of people are still singing the praises of Kirk and Spock.

Whatever happens with the My Little Pony franchise, G4 will always be known as the point where it transformed from “mindless entertainment to sell toys to little girls” to “next major nerd franchise”.
