@deathscarThank you so much for the lovely letter!!
True. I wonder as to if Celestia had planned for Sunset to be an Alicorn before Twilight became one. Like, before Twilight even being a student and before Sunset turned…well, into a bitch.
@BackgroundLoL
That’s a lot to digest, lol.
Myself? Never gave it that much of a thought, to be honest. Not that I really wanted to.
@Chrys
Although to be clear, I think the timestreams, got synchronized, due to either Sunset and Twilight coming multiple times through the portal, or the portal being permanently opened in Rainbow Rocks, that is if they weren’t synchronized in the first place.
@NM14
The question of Sunset’s age, is an interesting one - yes, in her prequel comic, Fall of Sunset Shimmer, she was at least a teen when Twilight was a filly:

But on the same page all “Sunset’s potential friends” (Lemon Hearts, Lyra,Colgate, Moondancer, and Twinkleshine) all were shown in season 5 to be exactly in Twilight age.

your current filter.Also, Moondancer looks completelly different. But I discussed with LanceOmikron, these might be just “repesentations” similar to Twilight’s classmates, rather than trully them.
Still, I think the comic might have exagerated the age difference between Twilight and Sunset.
Especially that Ishi Rudell answered Sunset is onl a “bit” older than Twilight:

your current filter.And stated Sunset physially, is around 17, like other girls:

your current filter.So it even seems the portal de-aged her a bit.
It also seems originaly, the time in the human world, and Equestria, weren’t perfectly synchronized - it seems Sunset was in the human world, from her perspective only 2 and half years or so in the human world, while there are some implications more time passed in Equestria.
Sunset also, frankly was a genious, as seenin her prequell comic:

The next page, is the one I posted first.

Please. I must discuss. Take into account a few facts…and little bit of theory before, though.
Most think Sunset’s a teenager. Very interesting to think so. Yet, as DWK suggested on a Youtube video for the first EG movie…maybe she’s not a teenager. She might be well into her twenties. Because, when she was under Celestia, Twilight was a filly. Now, you can say that the comic isnt much in the way of canon, I wouldnt say anything against such a viewpoint. Yet, the fact Celestia has to explain to TwiSparks that she had a student before her, it can be safely assumed that Sunset’s AT LEAST around Shining Armor’s age when you consider she was never shown to be around in the human universe until highschool…unless highschools allow younger kids in for no good reason. My theory is this: Sunset doesn’t need to stay with her parents because she isn’t a child. She never was, in the human world that is, to begin with. She can live on her own because she’s fully allowed to rent an apartment, work somewhere, and also go to school. She can say she was put back into school at an older age considering when she entered the human world…any normal person would have thought she was not right in the head, maybe had a mental disorder or whatever that stopped her from completing her studies in the first place. So…yeah, I think she was, in the beginning, a grown woman thought to be given a second chance at an education because everypony around her thought she was…err, underdeveloped in that department. She then actually excels in her studies, nets the schoolboard some serious good publicity for the helping of a homeless girl pick herself off the ground, yet is considered to still have issues mentally since she acted like a bullying bitch when she was in fact waaayyyyy older than her peers. Yep.

I know, and I fully agree >w<
But I just find it an especially happy ending for Sunset, to finally having a loving family, something she couldn’t have in the past.
Actually, I meant my utter approval of Sunny starting a family with Twilie :3
@Light Blade
Indeed, especially that it was implied in the movies, and stated in the comics, Sunset didn’t have much of a family ife, with her family being very negletfull:
