His I Have a Dream speech is still radically relevant today too. I know we like to flaunt it as the beginning of a dream fulfilled but listening to it again in 2017 it sounds more like a dream denied.

American schools are horrible when it comes to teaching about the civil rights movement. MLK was more than your friendly neighborhood negro. Without education, you get guys like BK Leonidas who think white genocide is a thing.

He also made note about how the blacks of the north were so much more angrier than those in the south, so he was certainly aware of that.

For the record, I think keeping her under supervision, helping her turn her life around, and making sure she doesn’t backtrack shows a lot more love than just letting her go. There’s actually a considerable investment of resources and time there, and it’s for her own good.

Love? I see convolution. The only reason they befriended her was because they wanted to keep an eye on her. Their own words. “If she’s really that powerful, we can’t just let he leave.” Its the same reason they made Discord a friend. Otherwise, Tirek, Sombra and even small time ones like Trixie would always be offered friendship at every chance possible but they’re not. Of course that’s just my opinion.

That’s kinda why I prefered Starlight’s reformation over Sunset’s. Sunset’s could way too easily be put down to ‘Rainbow brainwashing powers, go!’, which is a bit… awkward.

I was also thinking of the Deacons of Defense when I posted my original comment, but this is true too.
 
For context, the Deacons were a self-defense group rallied in the sixties as a counter against the Klan, members were black war vets. As a group they were not afraid to fight or intimidate if that meant they could preserve civil rights in their home town across the south. In many cases they were used as impromptu security on the edge of marches and protests to keep them from being stopped too early. They were for the broader non-violence movement that group that committed violence for the sake of security and made sure in the end MLK and the marches in the 60’s were so effective.
 
They we’re also a response to the rapid dissolution of progress at home when national civil rights leaders led town and Jim Crow reasserted itself. These men made sure this was stopped.
 
In the end they dissolved with the signing of the Civil Rights act of ‘67 and the Black Panther Party became the new organized resistance. Some commentators I’ve heard say that the Deacons were largely forgotten in the history textbooks in a post Civil Rights “White Washing” that mostly left King and the reformed Malcolm X alive as subjects. But they probably wouldn’t have gotten there without the Scrappy black militia of Korean and World War 2 vets.

As I just said, I admire Malcom X. I’ll gladly call a Muslim who preaches love and forgiveness my brother, and gladly call a Christian who preaches bigotry and hate my enemy.
 
It sad that some people consider that a controversial view too.
 
Besides, Trump is as much a Christian as I am an elephant.
