Quarter hearts: I took the sky canon!
Fluttershy: visible confusion
True, and the chicken keeper seemed to be based on Luigi. Talon & Ingo of “Ocarina” also seemed based on the Brothers.
Not surprising as Zelda & Super Mario are made by the same people. (And not just Miyamoto. In fact, sound composer Koji Kondo is the guy whom created the iconic themesongs for both series.)
Let’s not forget Tarin was a direct reference to Mario himself in that game. It was oblivious with him looking for toadstools and turning into a raccoon.
I got that one a few months ago when it was on sale cheaper on the Nintendo Eshop. I haven’t finished it yet though, as I’ve been busy with work & other games. It’s not a bad game, (and the Kinstone feature is creative) but I prefer the other Zeldas.
Maybe I should go back to it though, and maybe I’ll get more interested in it.
I think one of my favorite 2D Zeldas is probably “Link’s Awakening.” It was pretty much the first game in the series to actually have a somewhat strong narrative, and RPG-ish progressing storyline. I also like how it was a li’l unorthodox, had quests between dungeons, and strange or humorous things/references compared to other Zeldas.
The plot-twist explains why there’s strange things like talking animals, telephones, Mario enemies, and such in the game. It was quite clever.
If you don’t stop, I’m gonna give this sand wedge A Link to your Arse. XD
Assuming you are whom you say you are, we really enjoyed the gag. I’ve loved Zelda games ever sense my older bro’ got me the first NES one when I was little. It’s nice to see it referenced in pop-culture.
You might want to go to the artist’s DeviantArt page in the source link above to compliment them, because I’m not sure if they come here to Derpi.
Hey, we LIKE our background ponies, O Top Drawer.
I’m Michelle, one of the board artists on the show, and I want to say fantastic artwork!
Dead Hand was quite creepy, it’s body seemed to even have blood stains on it. (Yes, there was blood in “Ocarina of Time.” Mostly used as a background feature like the red stains in the Shadow Temple. Though, they were removed for the 3DS version.)
Ganon coughing up red blood was also a bit shocking for an E-rated Nintendo game. (But only in earlier copies of the game, as it was changed to green.)
I was a little surprised too, but at least you could just chop them to death with your sword! With the Armos…
Me: Navi! Quick! How do I beat it?
Navi: Stop it’s movement and then destroy it!
Me: [utterly deadpan] Thanks, Navi. You’re the best.
Because everyone knows that if you throw oversized walnuts at killer robots, you can cut through them like paper (I just used the bomb flowers anyway).
On a similar note, Queen Gohma was the first boss I ever beat in any video game. I felt like I could do anything after defeating her.

The ReDeads still freak me out, even when I have the Sun Song/Stone Mask. But the one thing that creeped me out the most was the Dead Hand in Ocarina of Time.
Those things become more common in the “Master Quest.” (Got the 3DS version recently.)
@Firebrand96
The Redeads used to kinda freak me out a li’l.
Oh my, I agree. Wait, actually no. My first encounter with horror were Gohma’s babies falling from the ceiling and jumping at me. I think I was five when I first encountered those.
Believe it or not, my most traumatizing LoZ moment was my first encounter with the Armos as a child. In terms of surprise and scary sound effects, it made the Killer Piano scene from Super Mario 64 look tame.
Ugh, Gyorg drove me nuts last time I played MM.
Yeah, they’re quite evil too. They’re like smaller more manuverable versions of that Majora’s Mask fish boss with the same name.
Personally, I could do without the Gyorgs. Though on some occasions one does fallow and don’t attack unless I make a sudden turn or stop when I’m being chased.

Sea hats are freaking horrifying to a kid. Heck, they are still pretty creepy.
I like how there was stuff to find in the water too, like treasure, charts, the Ghost ship, and the Big Octos.
The Sea hats used to kinda scare me. Always looming in the background.
Yeah, I still think that WW is the game that had the best sense of exploration to it, even if it took a while to get to different places. And I did the zigzag sailing too.
I like how creative they were with some of the island designs. The Great Sea actually made the game’s world feel much bigger then previous Zeldas. Felt a bit more open-world too, in some ways. At times, admittedly it got tedious, but the same could be said for wandering around land, or Hyrule field in other games. (Plus, like those games there’s warps.)
@Japanese Teeth
I had a trick to get around that at times by opening and closing the sails when close to land, or sailing sideways with the wind, going back and fourth.

I wasn’t really bothered by it either aside from it being a pain to have to play the same song every time I wanted to change directions. The only thing about that game that really bugged me was Tingle’s fetch quest at the end, but the remake streamlined both of those issues immensely.
