Policy update regarding AI content

I was asking about AI content, specifically “ai composition”, not unedited generated ones. Sorry I wasn’t clear on that.
I’m aware that the creator now needs to put significant effort into the works they generate, but at least from the examples that were posted in the OP, the images allowed are still obviously AI. So I’m wondering, why still allow it and not ban it all? What was the reason behind landing on this decision?

I’m fine with AI voice though.

This policy sounds fairly reasonable. It’s good that clearly flawed images won’t be allowed. So, in a nutshell (from what I understand):

It’s going to be interesting to see the conflicts that will inevitably happen once dishonest actors start declaring that their generated slop is actually their very own art, but establishing a precedent early is still very much appreciated!

Are there any tools to sync upvotes, faves, or comment subscriptions between AI art here and on Tantabus? There used to be a script to sync the votes & faves between Philomena-based boorus, but I don’t think it works anymore.

Whats going to happen to the comments under migrated pictures? Doesn’t look like those got copied over to tantabus. While I expect ai images to have less engagement on average there are still posts with a significant amount of comments.

Unfortunately not one supported by “us”. The image IDs are also different, though all the copied stuff has the original derpi URL both as a source_url entry and placed in the description field.

Even though I post mainly AI content, I have to say that this is a good change

I wholeheartedly support these new rules. That’s a great way of managing all that content and removing all the slop!

It’s the same thing that happens when an image is removed, so are the comments. I suggest taking screenshots if you want to treasure any moment

What about images that were already deleted from here? There was this one particular user who uploaded a ton, had several deleted, and just stopped.

Comments haven’t been copied over. It may be possible to set up something to do so down the line (attributed to anonymous commenters), but should not be depended on.

To note is that some purely AI generated images will be spared due to their status as “artifacts”, and comment sections may be part of the equation (eg. first ai genned image that didn’t look like jello, first that looked scary good, etc.)

could we get a download ‘faves’ button before this happens? I keep a few AI pics in faves or so as reference and don’t wanna have to manually save each one to back up.

Huzzah! I’d like to think this was the popular outcome from the beginning (it was certainly mine), and I’m glad to see it come into effect. I had already hidden the AI tag, but the booru really doesn’t need hundreds of AI slop uploaded every day (just like it doesn’t need hundreds of screenshots of every frame of the series, but that’s a different hill to die on), simply from a backend perspective. Glad to see the pure AI uploads gone, glad there’s some leeway for people who use AI in their art pipeline, and glad the hardcore AI people get their own little space to echo-chamber or whatever. I think this is an outcome that makes everyone happy, and I hope it takes some weight off the mods’ shoulders.

Fair enough. Some of it was actually good shit, but in the end this is for the better.

If someone wants some downloaded before the deletion, message me. The archive (7z, LZMA2, 64MB) will include the full file (same as the DS button) + the description + other metadata + the keywords/tags, all unedited, uploaded to gofile.io which’ll store it for 10d.

We “prompters” don’t want to use sites with such draconian “quality” standards. We don’t think “ghost signatures” are an issue, and we don’t want to rely on a site that might delete our images because of minor nitpicks.

It was worth it to jump through the hoops to publish on derpi, because that put your images in front of a huge userbase. What reason do I have to use tantabus.ai?

I am pretty sure you can use an image downloader tool for Derpibooru (DerpiDL), then you can specify the tags (my:faves in this case).

Something like that’s been feature requested before but I really don’t expect it’ll come through in under a month…

There are however some automated ways of downloading images, for example https://github.com/Sibusten/derpibooru-downloader

It’s command line only, but fairly simple to use. Once you install .Net 5, then open a terminal and run it like so
