Ask the Mods Important Site Questions (V2)

I do not know in which topic it is better to ask this question, so can I ask here? One of my familiar asked me to find out how to ensure that the art uploaded by him is uploaded immediately, and not waiting for the approval of the mods. Nowadays, he has uploaded 40+ artworks, none of which were provocative.

There was a bug that carried for a couple weeks where the “You should review if this user should be verified!” notice for staff wasn’t triggering, seems like your friend got caught by that. Apologies =/

I don’t know if this is the correct place to ask about this, but why does Derpibooru on my phone giving me autocomplete suggestion when searching using the tags search bar and doesn’t give me one while I’m opening it on my laptop? Did I mess with some settings that I forgot I have changed or something?
Like when I’m typing eq, the bar suggest equestria girls and stuff, but doesn’t do so on my laptop.

I’m using chrome on my phone and both chrome and edge on my laptop.

Enabling this doesn’t do anything for me. It works on tantabus, though.

I recently reported a series of a couple hundred repetitive comments from a BP going back years, that seems like nonsense (Google Translate doesn’t recognize it as a word) or at best some kind of reference that’s irrelevant (unless I just don’t understand it). Some of the most recent comments got deleted, but the majority of them remain on the site - and I did include a link to a search to find them all as part of the report.

What’s the reasoning for deleting recent ones but not the rest?

It’s 500 comments and a mod is currently going through them all. Reports get auto-closed when the reported item gets deleted.

So… it might be a while for this special person’s 9 years of “why” to get cleared out.

I’m using another account and I’m an artist, I submitted for verification, but will I get an email or anything? How do I know when it’s ready? I want to use the DNP to upload just the good works instead of all of my many scraps and accumulated detritus over the year and then point people toward the archival site if they want to see the older/non good stuff

There’s no email confirmation or other notification; the artist link will be visible on your profile when it’s approved. If you set the link to be public, it’ll also be shown on your artist tag’s tag page.

I’d like to ask about the site. Lately, I’ve been seeing lots of previous artworks being uploaded again. Why is that happening?

New ways to access full-quality versions of images from sites like deviantArt and Tumblr have been discovered recently, so some users are systematically going back and getting better-quality copies of pictures that were lower-quality when they were first posted. Only moderators can update a post without first reposting it, so users have to repost and wait for them to be merged.

While mods can update existing images, the ideal is to do “upload and merge” to avoid issues with caches.

I had reported an artist tag associated with an account that did not seem at all connected. The report was closed a couple hours ago, and I don’t see anything having changed. Could you please let me know if the report was closed early before resolution has actually come to pass, or if indeed it was determined to be correctly set up, would it be allowed to PM me with how that can possibly be true?

Just a question, how long does it usually take a DNP list request to go through by chance? I apologize if this has been asked before by the way. I’ve been waiting around 7 days and just wanna make sure I didn’t mess something up with it by accident.

It varies by the complexity of the case and availability of the mods, but usually takes anywhere between a few days and a few weeks.
