apparently there’s a bridge out there that despite the notoriety, truckers still try to clear it because they think they can.

Well, there is a train trestle in North Carolina that has a clearance of only 11 feet, 8 inches
 
Most of the “truckers” who get a surprise physics lesson from that bridge are not professional, commercial truck drivers (though that does happen). The bulk of them are people renting U-Hauls, employees driving larger company vehicles incidentally, RV drivers, etc.
