Don’t get me wrong–I actually totally love the Discorderly Conduct blog. It’s hilarious, the expressions are great, the storyline is decent, and the artwork and detail is fantastic.
That being said, yeah, tarajenkins is indeed on the DWM train, along with her regular clique. While they have indeed been holier-than-thou assholes (you should have seen the tara/tena thing about Japan having less reported rapes yet having more drawn depictions of rape than the U.S.), they’ve generally been a bit more mild about it. However, when encountering those who give a bit more thought into their replies/reblogs, they’ve been particularly venomous. They’re the ones that kept searching for thesis papers made by pre-grad students for their Sociology final and when presented by case studies performed by teams of people with doctorates (though admittedly not published in a peer-reviewed magazine), they considered it immaterial. (I say “they” instead of “she” because when you argue with tarajenkins, you also argue with her clique of sunshinederp and onewonderfulbug blogs, among others.)
As for “giving up,” I “gave up” when I saw Pinkiepony’s first post with the crying Celestia image. I saw that, and thought, “Christ, people exploiting pony to show their own political views.” Ever since then, I’ve been on a six-month “I told you so” and “hahahahahaah” streak. It’s never been about “winning” anything for me, really, and I’ll still continue to bitch about Pinkiepony for a long time, I’m sure. Threads like this one. and the occasional foray into /mlp/ threads, is great for me to let off steam AND have a good laugh, while keeping up on what’s happening.
