Not to mention the US just plain seems to hate the poor most days, since there’s so many ‘mandatory costs’ for non-essentials (and price gouging on the essentials, like medicine) Using a friend from detroit as an example (idk if they’ve fixed this since then but it was a Granholm idea) he made about $24000 a year, which put him above most aid programs, but his heart medication was $120 a week, or $6240 a year, and he couldn’t get on a good insurance program due to his condition so they would only pay for $1160 of that. $5000 gone before anything like rent, auto insurance, food, clothing, fuel, or utilities. So he lived as if he were in poverty, but didn’t qualify for any sort of poverty aid program because he was ‘making too much.’ Amusing that pinkie would likely not consider him ‘disabled’ when he can only work 3-5 hours without passing out just because he’s a skinny white boi, and if he did receive any aid she’d be calling him a parasite instead.
