I honestly disagree, they still make good games as far as I’m concerned, (I have a WiiU, and don’t regret it) and actually they’ve had pretty good PR with fans & customers from what I’ve heard. I’ve had nothing, but good experiences when dealing with them personally, like when they fixed my Wii. (And I actually hear “Metroid Federation Force” is pretty good actually.)
Honestly, I strongly disagree they’re a “scummy company,” Honestly, I have much more respect for Nintendo then Microsoft or Sony.
(That complaint about Nintendo’s games being the same could easily apply to them too. All the same FPS games, EA sports games, gritty sci-fi RPGs, and such. Honestly, I prefer Nintendo’s more quirky style.)

“Nintendo’s not the only one guilty”
No-one would ever imply they are. You make it sound like that’s a good excuse though. That they can do bad so long as everyone else is too. I know you can’t have meant it that way, but it reads that way. They’re really late to being a scummy company, but that is just what makes it hurt so much more. They were the lighthouse in an ocean of darkness, and now their light has been extinguished.
Well, it’s not like the people who act like Nintendo is the devil, (if it weren’t for them, there’d be no Playstation, in fact) or like they have no right to protect their own properties (other companies have been way more strict) are behaving any better. There’s overzealous gamers on both sides if you look around the ‘net.
I understand wanting to protect their properties’ copyright & reputation, but it’s a shame some promising fan-games got axed.
Sega canned the fan-made “Sonic the Hedgehog 2 HD” game, Square/Enix also axed Chrono Trigger remakes, and such, so Nintendo’s not the only one guilty of that.
I don’t think someone deserves some kudos just because they aren’t always breaking into my car and stealing the radio. but really I don’t blame nintendo for protecting their interests and extorting gullible fools. it’s the people who try to act like they’re some kind of moral champions that bug me. “how dare those people have fun? those devs sure showed them!” anyway nobody wants to hear us arguing about it here.
Perhaps, but Nintendo deserves some kudos for supporting small Indie developers lately. So it’s not like they’re always “against” the li’l guy like some here are trying to claim.
Actually, piracy has caused some problems. Games that have beenwidely pirated result in alot of loss profits, and not just for “big evil corporations,” but smaller Indie companies, as well.
Still, some game companies have come up with some rather hilarious & awesome ways to combat the pirates. Like that one FPS game that forces players to use a useless chicken gun, if the game is detected as a pirated version.
Edited
I didn’t say anything about sharing games. If people want to exchange game disks/cartridges/etc then they should feel free to. But if they’re trying to break into the systems that Nintendo has designed to limit what can be played on consoles, then they’re treading on more dangerous ground. Due to how those sorts of cryptosystems are setup, it’s difficult to tell the difference between a homebrew game and a game that is just a clone of an official published work. The possibility that someone could get a game and create a dozen copies for their friends (so they can all play at the same time) is probably what Nintendo is trying to prevent with these measures. That this also prevents original homebrew content is unfortunate, but probably inevitable.

your current filter.well, anyway that pose copying thing is neat, though she had the corners of the mouth turned up in a smile, where the reference just has the mouth gaping and relaxed. I still don’t know why I love this character so much. she’s just… plainly perfect, or perfectly plain!
The WiiU version is still coming out, so I’m just going to get that one, seeing how it’ll probably be years before I get a Switch.
To be honest, it looks nice, but sense I’ve only had a WiiU over a year, I’m not quite ready to “upgrade,” or spend another $300. (I’m not rich) even though Nintendo’s ready to put a Bullet Bill in the WiiU…
Hopefully, the Switch does better then a WiiU, so it lasts more then 4 years… Another reason I’m reluctant to get one. (Then again they’re bringing back Bomberman, and other games look nice for it…)
Boy, I really triggered somebody here.
Nintendo’s not the only party guilty of that, and lately they’ve gotten more lax about that legal stuff, video uploads, and that’s old news. If you hate Nintendo for that, then you should still hate Microsoft & X-Box for trying to charge extra licensing fees for $60 games, or Sony for them shutting down fan-hacks, and such too, or for accidently leaking people’s credit card info’, and such. You should hate Valve for terminating people’s accounts if they don’t follow their legal rules.
“Super Mario Go” isn’t the only mobile game with that flaw, but that’s kinda a minor thing to hate them over. (Especially, considering every other game Nintendo makes doesn’t have that issue.)
I and most people have actually had good customer experience from Nintendo, they’ve always been helpful to customers, (fixed my Wii when it was broke, and under warranty, and they even payed the shipping FOR me. I didn’t even lose my save data, or anything) and while they aren’t perfect, they don’t screw fans over as much as EA, and such. I don’t know anyone who’s had their consoles disabled by them, and such. (Then again, they don’t use unofficial or illegal hack programs either) So I don’t know where you’re getting your info’ from, or what your issue is. But yeah they must really really hate people who give them moneyz. That doesn’t make sense to me. I’ve seen other companies MUCH worse to their customers.
If you hate Nintendo for that stuff, you should also hate Sony, Microsoft, Valve, EA, and practically every video game or PC company.
@Exedrus
It was, but I forget half the people on Derpi take everything personally, or can’t detect sillyness/sarcasm… Geeze. He acts like I insulted his goldfish, or something.
I’m curious if he was trying to insult my religion, or my supposed “Nintendo fanboyness,” or something else. Which is funny ‘cause I criticised Nintendo too before, I just don’t think they’re the root of all evil.
I also find the “conformist” remark funny, ‘cause some get on my case as well for disagreeing with so-called “popular opinions.”
Am I conformist, or hipster? I can’t win either way whether I agree or disagree with something.

>…disable your console if you do anything they don’t like.
IIRC, this was only an issue for people who tried homebrew and/or pirated games. As long as the system doesn’t come into contact with “unapproved” games, I doubt they’ll use this.
Although, admittedly it is a bit freaky to think the OEM can just brick a unit if they want, but with how everything is becoming connected to the internet, this is kinda inevitable… I mean Steam is one of the biggest game content distribution platforms and its EULA says:
>Sorry but your conformist ways to be in a sheepish group and listen to a “higher” power makes you the commie.
I’m pretty sure the whole “commies” bit was a tongue-in-cheek joke…
I hate Nintendo because they’re insufferable bastards. They frequently put out cease and desist orders onto people who stream their games. Their last game, Super Mario Go, has a requirement to be always connected even after paying them $10 for a simple mobile one button jumper game. I could go on and on about how they hate and oppress their customers, who are mostly children… But you just go right ahead and support a company that hates your guts all the way into hell and will sue you and disable your console if you do anything they don’t like. Sorry but your conformist ways to be in a sheepish group and listen to a “higher” power makes you the commie.
of course the new Zelda game ;) Can’t wait for it :D
