It happened in one of the chapter books but I want more than that.
Although at this point, I just want Moondancer to properly reappear at all.
Well, she is borderline psychotic
“pins Starlight to the wall as soon as Twilight is out of sight You listen to me… Twilight Sparkle is MY Senpai… And NOPONY comes between me and my Senpai… GOT IT???”
“Y-yeah! G-got it!”
“Stay away from my Senpai… or else!!!”
“…Please don’t kill me…”
Moondancer started off as being an introvert; she had other friends, but never reciprocated that feeling of friendship compared to her friendship with Twilight Sparkle.
For what it’s worth, I’d say they’re even MORE similar than most of us figure.
Meanwhile, Starlight Glimmer was a child who was quickly abandoned by her one and only friend after he got his cutie mark, and then proceeded to avoid making friends because she didn’t want to get hurt like that again. As she grew up, she created a philosophy against other ponies, convinced others to try out her beliefs - noteably, the Mane 6 are the only ones treated as being forced to give it up against their will, their forced was being forced to follow the philosophy after becoming part of it which is different and relays a sentiment about cutie marks that’s neither here nor there - and then proceeded to commit revenge against Twilight while forcefully believing that ruining their connection won’t drastically alter time.
Neither were good or healthy; Moondancer was a suicide case waiting to happen and Starlight was someone on their way to prison.
Hmmmmm I should apologize to others for that. By the way I said I find it sickening they should get the same treatment. It’s pretty insulting to me because errrrr actually I’d rather not talk about it. I should keep personal problems out of my complaints.
I realized that error and apologies to the rest of anyone who prefers to see them that way. I’ll respect your opinion but sorry I can’t find it comprehensive to say the least.
You outright said you find it sickening that people think that about Starlight. How is that NOT insulting others’ opinions?
at what point did she say that there was no excuse for what she did? cause she made it clear that sunburst getting his cutie mark was what set her off to do everything she did to the point that if it didn’t happen somehow she wouldn’t have done any of those things.
now with your example, are we working with same decisions she made but only with the goal of money? because if so, then yeah people will still care as she will still excuse her wrongdoings to either the backstory, goal, or both. which would make her even worse than the flim flam bros. as she would succeed where they keep failing. it will still be a Freudian Excuse.
Once she admitted she clearly stated that there was no excuse for what she attempted to do, she isn’t calling it an excuse. It has nothing to do with whether she overreacted. If she’d become a millionaire, no one would care if her original motivation was losing a friend or disliking the taste of rhubarb.
“That’s a stupid reason to want to be a millionaire.”
“And yet I have more than a million reasons not to care.”
I still haven’t seeing cause for anyone to be sickened at the thought that anyone would admire the ambition despite either the motive or the execution.
Twilight: “What?”
apologies if I came off assuming you were defending(which I must have considering your first line). sort of came off from a debate soundtea and I been having on another image when I posted it.
@Background Pony #876E
I also share these sentiments for the most part.
I did say that all of Twi’s unicorn friends are CRAZY. I wasn’t defending Starlight finale, you know.
I agree with you that Starlight conclusion was done horribly–but ONLY her conclusion.
Had Starlight stayed a villain or became Twilight’s real RIVAL in both talent and philosophy, then I would be Starlight’s greatest fan.
I wanted Starlight to be the alternative to Twilight. I wanted Twilight’s ideals put to a real test: What if Friendship fails? What if Starlight could provide a better harmony? I wanted to see ponies disappointed in Twilight and bought Starlight’s ideas.
Twilight needs a true rival: Someone as powerful, as competent and as succesful as her. Starlight could be the one.
Think about it: Twilight the privileged vs Starlight the common pony. One teaches mercy, the other teaches justice, both strive towards social cohesion and harmony.
Tl:DR
I’d give my fish’s left fin for an Equstrian Cold War / Harmony Race subplot between Twilight and Starlight. Too bad Starlight converted–what a waste of potential.
it’s okay. as for sunset, neither was I mostly because from what I can tell, when someone connected to or attempts to use the elements of harmony for personal gain gets transformed into some monstrous version of themselves. where the reason they wanted the power gets amplified to the point where they’ll do anything to achieve it whether the choices made during it would be something they probably wouldn’t have done as them self, since they have this face of fear of what is happening. then when they are freed from their monstrous self, become remorseful of what they were trying to accomplish and of the actions they took when they were in their monstrous form.
Nightmare Moon being luna’s extreme to getting ponies to admire her night but did not care for the long lasting reprecusions and could no longer be reasoned with. the element of magic turned sunset into a she-demon that went as far as mind control while she, from what I understand, thought friendship = power + princesshood and wasn’t willing to go THAT far with it. human!twi wanted to learn more about magic, midnight sparkle was going to go as far as destroying their world to get where it was in abundance. all become remorseful and were redeemed.
Mm. People were probably as angry with Sunset’s defeat. I’ve forgotten why because I’m not and wasn’t as tremendously angry. Apologies. ^w^
That might be it, and with the strong implication of her becoming a core character (in which case I wonder what image will get the first ‘mane 8’ tag if s6 confirms it) doesn’t help. if they can recover her character somehow maybe it will ease the anger I have, but till then hopefully my anger wont overflow, like it has for the past couple days.
Starlight is more of a victim of mis characterization than anything else. Same thing happened to Radiant Hope really.
Characters who got screwed over due to poor writing direction.
forgot to add, starlight great villain, intrigueing character, when you don’t watch the finale.
when you do watch the finale, becomes a horrible/horribly written one.
you presume incorrectly. its the finale I have issues with as it is the biggest blemish season 5 has. still enjoy the show, just pissed that such a great season ended on such a garbage note.
I presume you no longer enjoy the show whatsoever. XD
if you are going to bring an alternative to the table don’t leave things out.
“You have no ambition, Moondancer! I’m maybe a psycho but at least I achieved greatness! I created a community, mastered self-levitation to the point of flight and improved Starswirl’s time-spell and what did you do? Read books all day?! You deserved your isolation and loneliness!”
“What? Hey Twilight, all yer friends this crazy?–also, did she really do all that? Kinda impressive actually”
“Yes Moondancer. All of them are crazy. Let me tell you about this one trickster who bought an amulet then became a slave driver for several days until I stopped her, and Celestia’s former prodigy who went into a pocket dimension, bullied the residents for a year, then plotted to take over Equestria. Also there’s this disgruntled rude book nerd shut-in…”
“HEY!!”
except for the fact that she used her backstory as an excuse for her actions. it’s classified as a Freudian Excuse for a reason.
