Description

Mesmers are anti-mages of the realm. Manipulators, not sorcerers.
Twilight is a poor choice (Starlight fits this much better) but the pic is still really well done, so…
… Zecora is the best Ritualist. =)

I looked over the Guild Wars wiki and I have to say it still fits better than the Elementalist and the Necromancer, and is still very much a mage. It plays differently, but all of their skills are still magical. Granted I haven’t played Guild Wars 1, of course.

Ah, sorry.

I was talking about mesmer from Guild Wars, not arcane mage ripoff that is in Guild Wars 2.

Again, I apologize for my misunderstanding. Yes, Twilight is a mage specce’d in arcane, she’s just not a mesmer.

Yes I have played Guild Wars 2, actually. Have you?

I’m not sure I understand what you’re saying, because the Mesmer’s abilities are explicitly stated to be magical in nature. They have reality warping powers, can manipulate space-time, and can create semi-real illusions. These factors are all why they got the Chronomancer specialization, which puts more emphasis on the entire “reality warping” thing.

Compare to the other Scholar classes, the Elementalist (manipulation of fire/water/air/earth) and the Necromaner (manipulation of life/death). The Mesmer controls more abstract, more fundamental energies, which is perfect for Twilight.

Have you played Guild Wars?

Frustration, guilt, empathy, diversion, shame, …
These guys are not mages (a person who learns about magic and creates spells), they are anti-mages. People who know how to dodge arcane, how to distort the opponent (such as rambling gibberish while they try to cast difficult spells), hypnosis, psyche, how to use enchants that function as traps for mages and sorcerers.

Twilight is absolutely not any of that. If we were to look for GW analogies, she’d be an Elementalist/Monk or Ele/Paragon, whichever depicts her new-found powers of friendship and compassion better.

I’m not sure why OP thinks Mesmers aren’t mages? Their powers are very explicitly magical.
Either way, I think the picture (and the match) fit.
