The beginning to “Up” come to mind, or the bad future scene from “Meet the Robinsons.” You’d be surprised a lot of animated movies new, or old have some rather dark, edgy, scary, or sad moments.

they don’t make’em like this anymore or at all really if fact when was the last time ANY animated film in the last 15 years took this dark aturn?

Oh this hits me right in the feels, this movie is my childhood. and growing up I almost lost my mom to cancer so I always get emotional when seeing littlefoot with his mom. The ending theme I always thought was her singing to him, oh.. I cry every time I hear it T_T, SO MUCH FEELS! (man I wanna hear Celestia doing a cover of this so much ^^)
 
But yeah as to parents death in kids movies this is mine, and Bambi’s mom and Mufasa ain’t got anything on LF’s mom, she took on a Motherfuckin T-rex!

Yeah, Little Foot actually had to watch his mother die in front of him.
 
The Don Bluth original movie is by far the best “Land Before Time,” and only one I’d highly recommend watching. What I like about Don Bluth movies is, they’re simultaneously cute, yet quite dark/edgy to. I like cute yet dark things.

Oh come on, people. The sequels were not that bad. The Land Before Time fanbase loves them, and if you really liked the original, then don’t let the sequels overshadow it. Simple as that.

Wierd to see this here. Rewatched this movie last week with some friends, last time I saw I was five or something. I thought I would bawl like an idiot (I did back then) at this scene, but all I felt was some mild melancholy along with a growing irritation at all the silly little spiritual winks that kept popping up.
