Really cool to see Private Party win the tag titles last night. Probably the best Young Bucks match since against Sting and Darby Allin.

Also cool to see Lashley debut for AEW. I really hope he gets used better there than he had been in his last year or so in WWE.

Some thoughts

I thought it was really cool Motor City Machine Guns won the SmackDown tag titles. Surprised they put it on them this soon.

Jey and Jimmy hugging was probably the best wrestling moment this week.

Crown Jewel is looking like one of the best cards of the year.

I like AEW is trying out new storylines. I think we should give it time to see how it plays out before we judge. Also, Shelton has looked incredible the last couple weeks.

Some of the Jericho hatred has really been overblown. I don’t agree with putting a belt on him either, but again, wait and see how it plays out.

I saw Bound For Glory this past Saturday. I thought it was a very good show. Mike Bailey Vs Vikingo was match of the night, and I thought the women’s title match was fantastic as well. A lot of people are giving TNA flack for not putting the belt on Joe Hendry but personally, I’m fine with it so long as the long-term story is still to put the belt on him. I don’t necessarily think they have to put the belt on him right away, especially if there’s a story being told between Nick Nemeth and JBL. I just hope the story doesn’t involve putting the belt on JBL.

Also, I hope Chris Bey is okay. He apparently suffered a serious neck injury last night.

Hiroshi Tanahashi has announced that he’s retiring at Wrestle Kingdom next year.

Bryan Danielson lost the AEW World Championship tonight. That means he is officially done as a full-time wrestler.

Between this and the angle after the match, this has to be one of the most depressing endings to a Pay Per View I’ve ever seen. It may be THE most depressing.

I thought Raw this week was a good show. Not a great show, and definitely the weakest it’s been in a while. The CM Punk promo was good, I like seeing Jey Uso successfully defend his title at least once, and it being against Xavier Woods furthers The New Day stuff, Sheamus VS Pete Dunne was an awesome match, and Gunther VS Sami Zayn was a fantastic main event. I definitely thought Sami was going to win in the end. It’s hard for me to complain about a show with two at least 3.5 star matches that were both like 15 minutes each. Nearly half the show’s runtime were those two matches.

I will say that if the last few months have proven anything, it’s that Triple H knows how to book a three hour show better than a two hour show. Raw most weeks has been better than Smackdown, and that I contribute to letting things breathe more. It’s funny because for the longest time, I like so many other people were clamoring for Raw to go back to two hours. And now, it’s almost like two hours is not enough. And yeah, prime NXT used to be one hour but that was with a limited roster. I actually think you could make the argument that Shawn Michaels does better two hour shows than Triple H does.

One last thing I have observed over the last 72 hours is that it feels like Triple H is very tapped into hip hop culture. He has his finger on the pulse much like how Vince McMahon did in the ‘80s and ‘90s. It’s smart because what genre of music references wrestling more than hip hop and rap? Why wouldn’t want to tap into that to try and bring eyeballs on your product? You’d be a fool not to.

Thank goodness for the hell in a cell match, because otherwise this Premium Live Event has been a bust. Easily the weakest one WWE has put on all year. Hopefully the main event delivers.

Even if you remove the context of this taking place in Saudi Arabia, the idea of a brand supremacy belt you only defend once every November is stupid. At least with the Dynamite Diamond Ring, you can use it to help you win matches.

Based off on how that segment ended, it looks like Gunther is dropping the title Monday to Sami Zayn all so we can set up Gunther Vs Goldberg at Crown Jewel. I really hope that doesn’t happen not just because Gunther Vs Goldberg as a match doesn’t interest me, but I don’t think now’s the time for Sami Zayn to be winning the world title. He should not win his first WWE world championship on a Raw, it should be reserved for a Premium Live Event.

Coupled with the belt stuff at Crown Jewel and the world champions fighting each other, I don’t like any of this. This is something it feels like Vince would do.

Triple H just announced that at Crown Jewel, the Raw men’s and women’s world champions will face the Smackdown men’s and women’s champions. None of the titles will be on the line, but the winners will be awarded belts and considered the Crown Jewel champion of 2024.

This feels like a gigantic waste of time.
