The biggest Vtuber controversy/drama of the following years as far as I started liking this fandom:
2021: Kiryu Coco and Haato’s suspension due to Taiwan controversy that led to Coco’s graduation
2022: Uruha Rushia’s termination after her fans discovering her dark side which caused her to lose control and breached her contract
2023: Amano Pikamee bullied into graduation just from playing Hogwarts Legacy
2024: The entire Nijisanji vs. Selen Tatsuki fiasco + Nijisanji emerging as a black company.
I wonder what kind of bullshit will we witness this year and who will it be…?

2024 was the worst year to have ever happened in the VTubing world with NijiEN vs. Selen being the biggest black eye in this community so far.
We also lost alot of Hololive talents in which all came out of nowhere. Fauna’s graduation announcement still makes my heart ache.

Yeah that’s how the Beginning Stages of the VTuber Scene was(especially in the Shutdown Period in the early 2020s obviously), just most of the Time playing casually Games & genuinely chatting/interacting with Folks.
It’s quite Depressing how these Corporate Labels/Companies change all these Things in recent Time, honestly doesn’t surprise me at all that some Individuals have turned/gone away from enjoying the Scene. :o

They really need to reconsider the direction they’re heading towards now.
If they keep this tunnel vision approach to idol concerts and stuff, while lucrative for a period of time, theyre going to keep losing talents and may even see a reduction of applicants to their agency turned off by this direction.
I do trust they still treat their talents far better than most other major agencies. But they need to remember what made them popular in the first place.
It’s because of these casual gaming and chat streams where they interact with fans that made them relatable and fans become attached to them.

Got some important info from what I’ve been seeing around so far that I think you should know. Apparently, Cover has changed their policy again. They’re going back to their old roots, mainly idol stuff.
And some of the talents felt uncomfortable to this change of direction. They only signed in just for the gaming and collabs.
They were originally idol content when they established but when the pandemic struck, their physical mobility around their studio became limited due to the lockdown and hence, livestreaming became their main thing. Vtubing culture bloomed the most during the lockdown because their streams, shenanigans, and cuteness easily became an entertainment for people who were tuned in on the safety of their homes + overseas demand. And now everything has settled down, people are freely able to move again. Cover wants this direction back.
They gotta reconsider this change (maybe at least some modifications on the policy) or they will lose more and more talents very soon.
Were gonna have to brace for more to bite the dust because of this.
