Normal is overrated
The whole conflict would have been resolved if the parents just told their son there was no pressure in choosing and that he could be in both land and sea.

I mean, this episode could also be about gender confusion.
But I think if anything it’s about divorce. A very kid’s glove take on it considering, you know, the parents aren’t divorced and still love each other and they live like 2 minutes from each other.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the episode wasn’t about divorce either though.

It looked like they were a normal married couple who only happens to live in two different places. It’s not really helping any kid feel better.

It seemed pretty heavily implied that they don’t normally speak to each other. Sky Beak said to her “you’re looking well.” I don’t think he’s seen or even talked to her in some time. That doesn’t scream “still married” to me.
Not every divorce ends up with lawyers and restraining orders.

To be honest i think the writer wanted to make a child custody episode but Hasbro editors turn this into what we got just like they did with Fame and Misfortune

Thinking about it, that does seem pretty plausable. Both of Terramar’s parents could’ve just told him that he didn’t have to choose from the start and not get him all worked up.
