Feature suggestions and discussion [READ THE FIRST POST]

It sounds like something that would be fine if it weren’t abused, but it would pretty much instantly start being abused. You can already get a better idea of how popular a tag is by just searching for it and looking at the Faves and Yays over the thumbnails, since being image-specific weeds out those who watch a tag for downvoting purposes and those who are just waiting for certain tag combinations to upvote anything. That’s 50 images at a time if you set it to maximum per page, and the color-coded star and arrow for Fave and Yay are still visible even if you zoom out to put most of those 50 onscreen at the same time.
 
…Not having the downvote numbers visible from the thumbnail page is a good idea, by the way.

The only way this can be abused is with multiple accounts.  
If you want to make multiple accounts to abuse the system, you have to make multiple valid email addresses. And probably register from multiple locations.  
You can probably make a couple, but not many more. Derpibooru isn’t so stupid, it can detect such things.
 
Good artists will always stick out with tons of faves, that’s what it counts.

I guess you don’t follow TSP’s tumblr, and missed the guy who made 30+ accounts to mass downvote Prince Twi pics.
 
The userbase will abuse it. It’s more work for little benefit.

What can you do if you hate an artist? You can filter it. Downvote their images.  
But, if I got it correctly, this feature would count the number of times an artist is watched, not filtered.

Comparatively, there isn’t much damage a multi-accounter could do with something like this. That said, I know there are those that would love to drop a thousand accounts to have them watch something like “super foalcon” and then whine all over Tumblr about it with a screencap.*
 
*Yes this is a thing that happens; someone posts a load of racist crap or homophobic or whatever else in a comment or image, screencaps it, then posts on Tumblr to show how evil we all are. Knowledge is pain.
 
Personally I don’t really care. I think there are a lot more important features (and bugs) that need taken care of before something like this.

Is it possible to make the watch page more organized somehow? For example, giving each watched tag a different section?

I have only artists in my watch list.  
That would create a lot of sections…

Yeah, I’m watching something like 200 tags? I’d rather that not be a thing. If the tags you’re watching are generating too much content for your watch page to handle, you should probably unwatch them and just make a point to check the tag every so often.

What about an option to categorize watched tags, and display each category separately on the watch page, but limit to 3 or 5 categories each users?

Customizable. Like a filter, but categorize things instead of spoilering/hiding them.
 
For example, I would have a “shipping” category, for ships that I like, and one for “scenery”, with tags of the artist whom I know do mostly scenery.

I remember when they added that colored box that would change depending on the amount of up/downvotes and there were some that went on downvoting sprees just to change it’s color.
 
Slightly more on topic, and just a thought, mind you, but mayhap add a “done” section to the first post so we can see what’s been finished?

I also wouldn’t mind something like a “Done” section or something that shows what’s “In Progress”, But I feel it’ll just be added work instead of working on the things that need to be finished.
