Remember the Babs Seed episode?
Near the end where Babs threatened to tell Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon’s parents about bullying the CMC?
Remember the fear on their faces?
This is what she has to come home to if she’s deemed lacking in any way.
Hmmm. Hmmm hmmm.

W4R-B0T: The Incident.
Nah, she’s got Filthy pretty whipped. A new husband could take years to properly break.
Unless they’re a man and they’re richer then her husband in which case “hello new husband!”
Or anyone who is loaded but gives a damn about those who aren’t.
Or “poor people”, or anyone who isn’t loaded
But only if it’s blank flanks

…Bravo.
Yeah I figured, but whatcanyado…
@Eclipse Flare
You’re late.
Give it time. Someone out there is probably making it now.
“Then there’s Spoon Growing Coconut sized stainless steel nads and talking back to her saying he doesn’t….”
They did in Pinkie Pride and Twilight Time. Sure they’re friends, but they still can and have been messed with each other.
“The news letter episode just seemed”
That’s funny thing. It seems as such because we didn’t have enough to draw a clear idea as we have have here. Same with Gilda, Twi’s canterlot friends, Discord etc etc.
As for “Most of DT’s appearances was that of a spoiled brat that everything…” and all that: are the two mutually exclusive?
RD and PP thought Gilda’s outburst was solely by her own doing until Griffonstone happened and they learned that while yes Gilda is aggressive a significant factor in that equation is that she’s a product of her environment.
We the audience are meant to solely thing Sassy Saddle did what he she did simply to spite Rarity and that her claims of helping were false until we learn of Sassy’s desperation proved her sincerity and the fact that her actions did do exactly as she said.
etc etc
they had 22 minutes to work with. give them a break.
Well is was executed poorly I think. Most of DT’s appearances was that of a spoiled brat that everything had to be about her and what she wanted. Then there’s Spoon Growing Coconut sized stainless steel nads and talking back to her saying he doesn’t have to put up with her anymore, when it didn’t really seem like they had that kind of relationship. They never acted like their relationship was anymore then two spoiled rich snobs ego stroking each other, and then that happened.
The news letter episode just seemed like DT was on a power trip. Flight to the finish was her just acting like she was does, a huge bitch to those she sees beneath her. Twilight time; I got nothing. Perhaps wanted to get close to Twilight for status.
I’d argue against that.
Look back at episodes like Ponyville Confidential, Flight to the Finish, and Twilight Time.
While the CMC took it as nothing more than DT being DT, Diamond herself was extremely serious about holding onto her power (chief of the paper, meeting celebrity, student of a princess).
In Confidential, DT was very particular about using blackmail to keep status (which she does again in this episode) and her ensuring that the ship she sailed sailed smoothly.
In Twilight Time, DT was actually being serious when it came to hanging out with Sweetie in the sense that Rarity’s celebrity connection mean she’ll also get a status boost and later in the episode DT is quick to not only put the mobs of young ponies under her rules and organization, but is also quick to flip a situation gone wrong into profit for her by turning those kids against the CMC.
In Flight to the Finish, DT didn’t break any of their stuff or plot to disqualify them from the flag thing (actually petty things), she purposely choose the right diction that would cause the CMC’s act to bend and break.
As for the things with the mother, let’s not forget the ending scene of Babs Seed and the fact that the mother’s existence very much explains DT’s use of the phrase “blank flank” and the idea it represent; status based dominance.
Or at least that’s what I’ve got from all of this in the context of this episode and out of it.
So the whole “The mom was the bad guy the whole time to make Tiara redeemable” felt forced.
