Maybe they were buried under apple trees.
I like to think they were turned into monsters like in Rescue at Midnight Castle. What if for all these years they were thought killed by the creatures that emerged from the forest after they went in and couldn’t be found, but actually they became them. One of the last ten episodes of the very final season will be about getting them back.
…But yeah, they’re totally deeeeead.
But at least Dash being her surrogate sister is being more firmly established these days, finally.

So… my argument is invalid?
She was organizing their cutecenera. It’s pretty hard to not show up to a party that you’re organizing.
Why? Twilight tutored them for quite a while (and might still be tutoring them), and Fluttershy has acted like a babysitter for them.
The CMC and their cutie mark gaining antics were pretty famous in the town, so it wouldn’t be off for the entire town to show up.
Flutershy, I can understand since she babysat them in “Stare Master”, but what about Pinkie Pie? What did she ever do?
But Twilight has been tutoring them. They even used a clip from that episode.
And Pinkie, to organize the cutecenera.
They gun eat us! D:
The only ones who should be involved are the siblings & Rainbow Dash.
That said, Twilight showed up out of nowhere while the fillies were renovating the playground.
They’d only be pointless cameos if they weren’t established to, you know, be friends with the CMCs.
