Those writers were once kids, and when they were kids, they probably had to eat broccoli.
The way cartoons portrayed how kids apparently universally despise broccoli still perplexes me to this day, and even back then. I’ve never really seen any of my classmates in elementary school complain about the stuff. If anything, they liked it. It’s almost like the media was trying to get kids to hate vegetables like spinach, cabbages, onions, etc.
