(I had forgotten all about his nictitating membranes.) His pupils aren’t changing size though. That’s an illusion created by the membrane sliding shut over them. I agree that Price does tend to draw them a little more narrow than the show does, though.

It’s definitely the cat’s eye slit in show - but the show rarely uses the narrow width slits that imply anger compared to the show, eg one of the cases from the show:
