Probably because they’ve known each other since they were both little (1st flag). Care a lot about each other (2nd flag). Spent most of thier time together (3rd flag). Both have an interest in reading Spike with comics and Twilight with books in general but still reading (4th flag). In Equestria Girls, Spike can get away with kissing Twilight with dog kisses, it happened once in the 1st movie and again in the 3rd (flag cinco).

Nah. From the looks of how they’re stretching out season five so much with hiatuses, I think they’re intending for S6 to end shortly before the 2017 movie.
Possibly even with the movie being the grand finale.
It’s going to reach at the very least season 7 if the movie is any indication
