I think this whole episode was a set up for Discord to make and hang out with new friends, not only Fluttershy. It can be Discord and Pinkie (Chaos and Randomness), or Discord and Twilight (“Discussing Chaos magic?”), or any other mane six/princesses/others.

“You don’t understand. I know that live in a world made of cartoon ponies, always taking constant care not to break the fourth wall too much, to break someone’s mind. On the other hand De Lancie is no longer voiced as guest actor but was listed with all the other VA’s on one page.

Neither Maud…or her mom for that matter. As painful as it is, the fact that CS was voiced by a celebrity means the character will remain a non entity in the whole scenario, save maybe another guest appearance in which the episode centers completely around him again and his musical talents again, something that seems unlikely.
 
If Maud had been voiced by some big shot (and big cost) voice actress like Ellen Degeneres, or Whoopi Goldberg she wouldn’t have appeared for a “minor” role like the one she had in this episode.

It was also funny that Pinkie was asking everyone around the Ponyville and no one wanted to go out with her. Was Cheese out of town?

This totally called for “subtle Pinkie” from baby cakes to come back.
