I think it was because everyone assumed that tea was one of her favourite things so her saying otherwise was completely wrong. Imagine if Twilight said she didn’t actually like books, it’s a bit like that. Plus a bunch of tea-related businesses relied on her for advertising or something.
So way they treating this like the end of the world? it’s not like she’s not raising the Sun and being queen.
Really? Basically Celestia has been pretending that she likes tea for over a thousand years when she actually hates it, she tells Twilight this secret, Twilight thinks she’s Chrysalis, everyone is freaking out like it’s the end of the world, Celestia makes an apparently country-wide declaration that she doesn’t like tea. And now we’re here seeing these two ponyies’ reactions, apparently.
