How the fuck did the vines reach their horns? Were they sleeping when they were attacked? Did they get distracted? They don’t seem to be advancing quickly enough to wrap them up like that.
 
At least the vines in the S04 Premiere were specially designed to restrain them…

An earlier panel shows that the vines while they can be destroyed are growing incredibly fast to the point that Twilight could only manage to create a hole through them to get them into the forest.
