2 characters in one pic not even acting romantically doesn’t qualify for a “shipping pic.”
And you’re dismissing the portion of people who will downvote it based on the shipping alone.
If people were more like “I don’t like Sonic, but I’ll just ignore this pic, and go on with my life,” that’s fine, but instead on half of every Sanik-related pic people act more like “ZOMG! Something Sanik-related! Kill it! Downvote it! SANIK SUXORZ!” or post images like this >>667627 or this >>592202 then that’s just overreacting, and spamming.
(Which some people do if you look under the Sonic tags.)
Nobody raises such a ruckus on Mario or “Halo”-related pony pics, and such… I don’t love every Sonic game either I can admit, but I’m not going to complain about ‘em. It’s getting to the point where the Sonic-haters are becoming more annoying then his overly-obsessive fans. That’s why the people here with a more favorable/neutral opinion on Sonic are getting tired of it on Derpibooru.
There’s a difference between voicing/having an opinion, and endlessly whining about it, or trying to start something. It’s fine if you don’t like Sonic, but try to respect at the same time other people don’t want to hear constantly that everything Sonic-related “sux.”
Or better yet, FILTER the “Sonic the hedgehog” tag, so you never have to see “terrible” pics like this again.

I get it, you hate Sonic to the guts that you went straight out bashing Sonic universe’s art style, but why bother whining about the art style of “Sanik univerz” when you just simply ignore it? This is why we can’t have nice things, because of some vocal minority bigots like you. I can spend hours just to engage in internet flame wars, but I have better things to do. Have a good day.
When I said “Dumb as hell (and rude)” I meant it in reference to hurtful, grating comments. But yeah, I had been doing such myself whether I really knew it or not so it felt worse to me than it would have if I would’ve just been nice.
This is exactly what’s wrong with the internet today.
Somebody having an opinion you don’t like isn’t always smack talking, “shilling” as it’s called elsewhere or trying to start trouble. Weather or not sharing said opinions starts a flame war depends on who responds, and you’ve pretty much proven you can’t handle an actual discussion about this. I don’t really see a reason either. Unless some dislike the Sonic-style, or Dr. Who nod here. Some also don’t like the Derpy & Doctor pairing, even if it’s platonic.
Let’s look at this from another perspective, Hm? Here it goes:
I used to listen to Nirvana a lot and it felt very grinding on me to read dumb-as-hell (and often rude) comments from some other fans of the band. I’m not going to down-vote Nirvana images just because of that, though; it’s too vague of a reason.
And as for this image, Why downvote it if there’s a reason? I don’t see a reason yet if there is one. It’s just Ponies in Sonic form, right? Is there really anything that should be hated about it?

Indeed, it’s a bit of a double-standard there. (And yeah, I have taken heat for liking the Sonic series here, though I’m more of a “casual” Sonic fan, believe it, or not. I haven’t even played most of the more recent games.)
Also, if you like ponies, you’re in no place to shame others for liking Sonic, which is no less geeky/kiddy.
Still, regardless of the “hate,” I have seen many Sonic-fans here surprisingly. We even had discussions on this site before like about the “Ken Penders” legal drama, and such.
Don’t forget about Charmy Bee.
But yeah I agree that Sonic has taken a lot of flaks here on Derpibooru, did everyone forget what happened back in 2011 when the fandom is new and we are taking a lot of flaks from anti-bronies? Just like Confucius said :“What you do not wish for yourself, do not do to others.”, if you don’t like anti-bronies bashing you for liking ponies, then don’t do this to those who like Sonic, and that includes downvoting anything “Sanik” related.

While, I suppose the artist could’ve made them a more creative species (seems they always make every MLP character a generic “cat/hedgehog”-like character) they still have some pretty nice pics, and in general draw design the better “Sonifications” of the MLP cast. Don’t see how it’s so “ugly” really. I’ve seen much worse Sanik-fanart.
One thing I will criticize is, I think this artist overdoes the “uni-eye” look a bit. Said look is usually only seen on hedgehog characters, as most other Sonic characters have “separate” eyes.
Only non-hedgehog character I can think of with the “uni-eye” look is Mina Mongoose from the Sonic comics.

I personally downvote most sonic stuff I see not just because it sanic but because sanic stuff generally looks ugly, and this is no exception imo.
