The green pony who was a news reporter in one panel was apparently “Ink Well,” another artist’s OC by the name of David Mcguire.
Only sign of brony-hatred from David though was this art piece he made back during the “Derpygate” drama. >>209458
David also remarked back during the notorious “Derpygate drama”… (When he first posted that image on his blog.)
Though, he later claims he was mostly targetting the people harassing the show staff over the Derpy changes, (see the description >>209458 here) it was still quite rude, and troll-baiting on his part. Still that’s the only “anti-brony” sentiments I could find of said artist.
(The other artist who cameo’d Dragondicks, or whatever their name is however is much worse apparently.)
I thought there was only one cameo, with the portrait? What was the other one?
Well, you can look under the “Ted Anderson” tag in the search bar, but long-story short, Ted had 2 controversial pony fan-artists briefly cameo in the issue, (both apparently turned out to be the kind of “fans” that tend to bash the brony-fandom alot, and one of said cameos was some girl with a rather backwards-sexist attitude torwards men) then all hell broke loose.
It got even worse when some fans found that Ted was supporting/reblogging some SJW-types on Tumblr, and such… The drama got so bad, even some of the admins on this site wanted to protest the comic/IDW over this Ted guy, and many other fans claimed they weren’t going to supprort the comic anymore causing alot of hatred torwards the comic series & IDW. Many felt the cameos were an open-insult to the fans, and promoting hatred.
The drama died quickly though once IDW stated that Ted Anderson won’t be writing for anymore comic issues for them after getting many complaints from fans, and kid’s parents once the cameos became well-known. They also tried to assure people Ted’s opinions don’t reflect their own.
Still, said incident made fans not want to support the Annual 2014 “Power Ponies” issue, and tainted it sadly for many. (Shame ‘cause it looks pretty good, and the artwork by Ben Bates is nice. Also, Bates, and the others who work on the comic aren’t to blame. Ted even admitted the controversial cameos were all his idea.)
Personally, I wouldn’t of even known who the cameos were if it wasn’t for the controversy/drama over it.
There was drama over that issue? About what?
