If I recall correctly, Sunset figured it out on her own and went to tell the others just before the Crusaders showed up to confess. Since one or both of us is remembering it wrong, the exact sequence of events is probably not what this discussion should hinge on.
It just was really depressing to me that after all Sunset’s work to turn her life around, after she played a crucial role in saving them all from the sirens, nobody in the entire school, not one person, stuck by her once things started getting really ugly.
But they weren’t quick to distrust her. At first AJ rejected the idea it was Sunset, but as more evidence it was her appeared she had no choice but to accept it.
Even afterwards they kept saying they didn’t want to believe it was her.
And when she showed up with the journal and asked them if the Sunset they knew would really do it, they stopped being angry at her immediately and started working out who the real culprit was.
The CMC also confessed to Celestia and had to apologize to EVERY student they posted gossip about. Sunset’s big speech to the others was about the importance of family, it would have been hypocritical of them to lash out at the CMC when Sunset was forgiving them herself.
At least one of them was stealing stuff off of other people’s phones. I seem to recall someone saying in an earlier conversation (way back when the comic was still new-ish) about this point that you can get in legal trouble for that.
And other than the detention, which is presented as though it were a punchline, they seem to get instant and total forgiveness. Admittedly, they aren’t shown at school, but none of their family members and nobody in the Human Six… including Sunset, shockingly… seems to be so much as mildly annoyed, despite how earlier Applejack essentially told Sunset to never speak to them again, and the other four backing her up, when they thought the whole mess was Sunset’s doing.
@dynamicv
I think what he meant is “Why would they fall for the frame-up?”
whether he does or not, it’s a valid question. For friends who were supposed to be so close, they sure seemed quick to distrust her, which bothered me a lot.
She was being framed.
Why would they think it was her in the first place after RR?
The CMC got 6 MONTHS of detention for what they did. They got in BIG trouble, and you can bet everyone at the school found out it was them. Kinda hard to keep 6 MONTHS of detention a secret.
This is a bad joke right? The CMC confessed to the mane 6 that it was them and not Sunset. How could they still think it was her after that?
6 months of detention is “mostly scot-free”, eh?
Actually, the CMC confess at the end and only get off mostly scot-free.
And it’s not mostly everyone who turns against Sunset, even the human Mane Six counterparts who’re supposed to be her best friends turn against her shockingly fast, leaving her literally without a friend in the world, and there’s no hint that they ever even consider apologizing for it.
That’s basically why it still makes me mad after all this time. It’s like the comic was written for the express purpose of making Sunset suffer and everyone else look like an asshole.
“Bronies”, not the show.
There was severe disappointment by the “SJWs” about two years back when they finally realized that “bronies”, ie. the mass of older-than-expected fans of the show, were for the most part “normal people” and not the militant white-knight faux-feminist they were hoping for. And in classical SJW fashion, “if you’re not with us, you’re against us”, so every “brony” that wasn’t parroting the latest tumblr or twitter
#male tears
-esque meme was considered a de-facto misogynist fedora-wearing friendzoned neckbeard. When was that? I remember that “Ms. Magazine” web article that alleged that the show was racist, but sexist? Plus I thought Lauren Faust herself shut that down.
Second: Because he has completely bought into the whole “the brony fandom is full of sexist bigots blah blah blah” bullshit spread by social activists before they got bored and started attacking gamers instead.
Okay. First off: You all have been really nice in letting me know about this. Most other sites would just laugh me off the thread due to being ignorant of the thing. Thanks.
Second: Why did he think he could put an anti-social media message into a comic that probably wouldn’t exist without a fandom born form 4-chan sub boards and social media websites?
Third and finally: Why is it that the only show that did an accurate depiction of bullying and how to deal with it is South Park? (That last one is half-rhetorical)
Last year’s Holiday EqG special, I imagine.
It was a rehash of Ponyville Confidential in EqG land, where the CMC, under the pen name “anon-a-miss”, out of their own volition and with no pressure from anyone, decided to to use social media to smear near everyone in school and use Sunset as a scapegoat until she broke down crying under the hate. Because the CMC didn’t like not getting attention or something. In the end Sunset doesn’t get her name cleared and the CMC walk off scott-free.
Was supposed to be his magnum opus about school bullying, and the evils of social media. He probably thought it was a good rally against that evil 4chan “anonymous”; ironic that he can’t see that his femme idol is the same crud as that boogeyman.
I only read the trade collections, so I haven’t gotten very far yet. Which was that?
He also wrote the worst MLP comic IDW has printed to date.
Fucking SJW’s man, they can’t ever let anyone have anything fun.
…
Oh. And Ted sounds like a spineless jackass too.
Writer for some of the IDW MLP comics, mostly known in some circles for being a fanboy to scammer, hypocrite and sexist tumblr artist, including agreeing with her opinions on the fandom being toxic/evil/lame and men being gross/weak/guilty of everything ever.
He tricked one of the comic artists into putting a cameo of one of his idol’s OC (particularly, the OC used to espouse her sexist rants) into an official comic. When this was brought up in the IDW forums, he played it and her idol off as mere harmless satire. Then he immediately went on another forum to decry how toxic men are and how guilty and privileged he is for being one.
Okay. Follow-up question: Who the buck is Ted Anderson?
Look at the tags.
…Admittedly, it probably applies more to Frank than to who it was originally meant for.
I know.
I just don’t like him because he’s a hack. The Shimmerbuse Special in particular was pointlessly cruel
@Serafin10CP
That was foalish of you.

Apparently not.
