Ah. Still reflects more on her than anything, if the avatar she uses to defend herself is an over dramatic whiner
It was sarcasm according to the artist’s tumblr where it originated from. Said artist doesn’t really take anyone criticizing their art very well.
I find that rather strange as the image shows rarity being whiny and over dramatic, while being distressed at being used as a mouthpiece
While you kinda have a point, and labels don’t matter, I don’t think fans who use the fandom nickname are trying to make it all about themselves, or trying to take it away from the kids, or anything. (Heck I’ve watched it with my niece before) The fandom nickname is just used for fun, and meant to differentiate themselves from the target audience of young children.
As a casual-brony/fan myself, I don’t consider being a fan of MLP part of my identity either, but it is something I enjoy.
Bronies are fans of the show, there’s no need to attach a stigma to it.
Any label you apply to yourself as a fan of the show is equally bad. Just be a fan of the show, stop trying to make it about you, who fall outside of the intended demographic of young girls. That’s why I don’t like the ‘brony’ label or any like it. I like the show, I like the fanart. I’m not a brony because the show absolutely is not a part of my identity in any way and shouldn’t be because I am not part of the target demographic that actually needs this show.

Pretty much… ;)
wow
so basically a crybaby defending being a crybaby by calling people crybabies
I want to see Billy Joel in concert.
Y’know, that Rarity image was actually drawn out of response of the artist being bugged by people upset that they were using ponies as mouth-pieces (bashing religions, and such) so ironically, it’s actually a “pro-using-ponies-as-mouth-pieces” image.
@Xidphel
Who wouldn’t? ;)
I want to frolic through a grassy meadow.
I’d like to see Jontron at Magfest.
fuck it, let’s talk about things we want to do in life
I’d like to be dyed purple.
Indeed, and ironically, even the non-fan haters would probably still consider them a “brony,” and be all, “DYE BRONI SCUM!”
Then imagine how weird it’d seem to the hater if they insisted they weren’t a “brony,” while having a pony avatar, or something.
I don’t really get it, I mean I’ve criticized the brony fandom at times, and the Sonic one, as well, (so I’m not saying the fanbase is a “utopia”) but I don’t go around demonizing all other fans like I’m the only “sane” one, and such, while at the same time still clinging to said thing the fandom is based on.
They’re arguing semantics. Anyone outside the fandom doesn’t give a shit what you call yourself really. At the end of the day, you’re just another brony to everyone no matter how hard you stress you aren’t.
I really don’t get the haters who are also fans of the show.
“BRONIES MUST DIE! I HATE BRONIEZ! I’M NOT A BRONY EVEN THOUGH I WATCH THE SHOW! DRAW FANART! MAKE MEMES! AND DO ALL THE SAME THINGS A BRONY DOES!”
Seriously, that’s what this always looks like to me. You don’t have to consider yourself a “brony” to be a fan of the show, but to act superior, because of that, and constantly bash others for liking the same thing you do is ridiculous.
Me too.
