I think they’re a little more careful about names crossing franchises now. I suspect the best we’d get is something like,
 
Optimus: “I have an idea, Princess Twilight. Bumblebee, Arcee, Bulkhead, go with Applejack and get some supplies. Cosmos…”

Unseen background pony #2: “Not you!”

There was also a G.I. Joe character named Shockwave, but the Transformers character is far more famous.
 
Some names work real for ponies, Transformers or Joes. Like, say, the aforementioned Sea Spray and Beachcomber. But some names could theoretically work, but don’t. For example, you could argue Blackout makes a good pony name (there’s already a bunch of Transformers and at least one Cobra operative with the name), but I personally think it sounds too ‘violent’ or ‘dark’ to suit a pony.
 
At least there aren’t any ponies with names that unfortunately suggest innuendo, like Thrust or Erector.

And Firefly is both a pegasus pony from G1 and a Cobra saboteur from GI Joe.

I would be terrified to learn the number of characters I could name from cartoons/tv shows/books I’ve read. It’s got to be multiple thousands.
 
Ask me to remember someone’s name IRL though and I’ll forget within 5 minutes. :(

And in TF Energon when Cyclonus changed forms he was named and transforms into a “Snow Cat” a G.I. Joe vehicle.

Hasbro actually did reuse names between shows when they could plausibly go both ways. Sea Spray and Beachcomber were both G1 Autobots and G1 Ponies.
