If you want to run Win7 more or less safely, you need 4GB RAM (more than WinXP can even handle). If you want to run Win7 100% comfortably, you need 8GB.
Except you either need very specialized Hardware to run it as a Hackentosh. Or a lot of Money to actually buy a Mac. I’d just sooner install Cinnamon Mint Linux….
Or OS X Mavericks. Most of the benefits of Linux, with few of the weaknesses
My family had an older OEM computer that had XP on it, only 1 GB RAM, and no wireless. Probably couldn’t handle 7 too well. That’s the experience I speak from.
Put Lubuntu 13.10 on there and it’s been great ever since.
I got that call once too.
And I doubt anyone is really still running XP with >2001 Specs. these days…

Windows 8 is just fail upon fail….

Or take the opportunity to try a Linux distro!
