I have always been of the opinion that 2 types of ponies live in Ponyville. The first are ponies who choose to live there due to the low property values and job opportunities in medical and construction work yet live in constant fear of the constant disasters that occur in the area and even greater fear of the second group (both of which are responsible for the startlingly low property values). The second group are crazy badasses the most obvious examples of which are of course the main 6 and their immediate families. When monsters and villains threaten the ponies of this quaint town they know they are playing a game of Russian Roulette. The Chimera just lost.

And by the time the Chimera realized that grenade was a smoker, Apple Bloom was already way too far ahead of them.
