Yes, Dash is not shorter. That was my point but I worded it weirdly.
In >>501737 she looks shorter despite not being shorter, but unlike Twilight no one is running around saying that RD is changing in height.
When factoring in this picture >>502716 which I aligned from this vector >>121602 (posted 1 year ago which means it was before any alleged growth could take place) it shows that both of our examples are discrepancies and not accurate portrayals of their height because unlike our examples it is based on a much closer shot and has equal proportions.
@Muffen-Man
I don’t know why you think Dash looks shorter, her proportions are the same as before, she isn’t squished or altered. Twilight is taller in all instances when compared with any one of the normal ponies at leveled position. >>492472
And it’s not just her height either, her body shape is changing as well. The horn and legs are longer, the chest is more protruding, the belly is curving inside and not rounded like before. The changes are obvious.
@Background Pony #7517 Lookie here, Twilight doesn’t look taller, Dash looks shorter, not to mention smaller in context of the background, and we all know that no one is theorizing about Dash shrinking.
They gave her wings, lots of ponies have wings. Unless their in use or your literally making an effort to pay attention to them, you hardly notice them.
I don’t know who came up with the whole “Twilight is getting taller” idea, but at this point it looks like he/she is an ingenious troll. Why wouldn’t she have just magically gotten the so-called “princess frame” during the transformation on top of magically becoming a princess and magically attaining wings? Not to mention the fact that Fleur has that body type and she’s not a princess. Even if Twilight was getting taller, no discernible change would have taken place thus far.
She didn’t become a princess just because of that one single spell on that one single day. Did you listen to Celestia’s song? Did you see the flashbacks? Her growth as a character from the first 64 episodes lead to her breakthrough in the 65th. As for the mysteries surrounding the spell and Starswirl, well there’s a great storytelling opportunity there, and hopefully we find out more about the mysterious and cheesy element of magic and why it, of all the elements, is singled out above the rest.
>Put Twilight’s accomplishments towards her character and champion her as a role model, and not as just another pretty pink purple princess made to sell.
I would, but changing her design and making her a princess after completing a spell?
She doesn’t new this “new look”
She did not need to become a princess just because she completed a spell
She can be Celestia’s successor but how she became a princess makes little to no sense
Again, she does not need to be taller with wings to rule, that doesn’t even make any sense.
If all it took was friendship to become a princess, wouldn’t Fluttershy be the princess? I mean seriously…
@Background Pony #C205
I didn’t think there were any fresh cans of twilicorn butthurt left, guess I forgot to check the reserves.
So lets throw it in the microwave.
When the master takes on a protege, they don’t train them to become their right-hand, they train them to become their equal, becoming a right-hand is usually part of the process and/or a settling point if the protege ultimately fails to reach the master’s level. This process happens in fiction all the time and in real life even more so.
The logical progression for Twilight was for her to rise under her teacher to become a princess following the master/student dynamic, whether or not Mrs. Faust thought about bringing her to succeed in this goal is irrelevant because the plausibility this logic provides is has always been present.
Finally, Hasbro’s bottom line was more than willing to debauch Twilight’s new title, hell, they may be the driving force behind it, but if you choose to look at Twilicorn for the good things over the bad, it fits the show’s style just fine. Twilight studied hard and did her best and was rewarded because of the merits we’ve seen her earn. A great example for the target audience.
Put Twilight’s accomplishments towards her character and champion her as a role model, and not as just another pretty pink purple princess made to sell.
Lauren did NOT intend for twilight become an alicorn, she knew girls could understand more complex stories and the like and then you have Meghan in charge and than we get winged twilight and what does she say? “Every little girl want to be a princess.”
How the bloody hell did you expect others to respond to this shit?
No shit Lauren said/would say it’d be unfair; if she didn’t say that, Meghan would be loathed so much more.
>me lose all respect for anyone using that image
Hate to break it to you but, nobody cares whether or not you “respect” them on the web.
@Background Pony #C205
See, the thing is, people are putting the two quotes together despite Lauren Faust herself saying it’s an unfair quote mash-up. If you want to criticize Meghan McCarthy’s quote, by all means do so; even knowing that it was part of the publicity fluff for MMC and that McCarthy had Princess Leia in mind, it still causes me to cringe. Resorting to such deceptive, cheap-shot tactics against the wishes of one of the people being quoted just makes me lose all respect for anyone using that image.
It takes approximately 4 months for an episode to air after it has been animated and finished. MMC aired in February 2013, which means it had been finished in October 2012. It takes a year to animate one episode. That means the script was finished in late 2011 (December 2011, IIRC Larson’s tweets), but the decision was made earlier.
The decision to make Twilight a princess: mid to late 2011.
Derpygate: February 2012.
Well they failed miserably. They not only pissed off half of the brony community, they written themselves into a corner by saying Twilight has nothing left to learn (but the other 5 still have lessons).
The damage was already done by Hasbro by changing the iTunes version’s Derpy voice and Rainbow doesn’t say her name. She was the BP that caught bronies attention and because of her, more BP’s like Doctor Whooves and Octavia got noticed. I’m sure everyone will remember that.
Thankfully, the Season 4 premiere solved all of the problems that Season 3’s finale caused. But the one thing it can’t fix, is Derpygate.
“[Lauren’s] original intent was to make you HATE Luna.”
Evidence. Now. In PMs.

Are you seriously claiming she’s not taller now? DYEWTS?

I certainly would not put it past them.
Sweet Jeebus. Do you really think Hasbro would remove her from the opening even if they removed her completely from her on?
Well, if they were going to get rid of her entirely, there is a good chance she would not have been in the opening.
Yes? Did anyone say he didn’t?
If she was willing to say that much then they, at the very least, have a high profile event set up for her down the road. (think Luna Eclipsed)

When did Snowflake become a fan favorite character? Seems kind of anti-climactic to me.
Nah.
That might turn out to be Snowflake.
