True, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it were to come back into play when all of this stuff eventually blows up in Rainbow Dash’s face.
The ‘Fake Love Letter’ subplot turned out to just motivate a guy that actually had a crush on ‘Shy to send love letters as well, but then he chickened out at the last possible second.
Although, it seems they’re going out now, anyway.
It’s bad enough that Dash’s fake prom date turned out to be a huge creep, who took advantage of Derpy, there’s also the unresolved issue of the phony love letter that led to Fluttershy’s hopes getting crushed! On top of all that, ol’ Dumbbell just got his hooves on some prime payback material!
He called Dash’s fake boyfriend a thug.
Mood whiplash the VERY moment he realizes Rainbow Dash is still single.
I think this guy is just very maladjusted.

…Ok, maybe that’s unfair. She was putting up with Dash’s shit for a long time.
