Dude….that was over 4 years ago.
It’s too pathetic to waste a downvote on, but:
It’s a wannabe duckish message, and I’m not sure if it’s the fault of the person who originally created it, or from reposting, but it’s low quality to boot.
You are aware that Midnight Sparkle ain’t human, right? The “humans” in the Equestria Girls world aren’t humans, they are pony-people. The pony-humans are cuter and more pony-like than ape-humans. They are allies of the ponies, and are battling the most feared military known to man or pony: the United States military.
Some say the ponies started the war by forceably converting humans into ponies to prevent them from harming each other or the planet anymore, and that the humans - led by the US military - are merely striking back. However humanity came to the decision that in order to ensure the survival of their species’ identity and resist ponification, Equestria must be destroyed, and all of ponykind eradicated. Out of guilt by association the EqG pony-humans were attacked as well, as humanity believed them to be just human-shaped ponies.
After the US military’s giant nuclear-equipped flying warship (which stays afloat in the air thanks to thousands of severed pegasus wings that generate antigravity) launched nukes that destroyed the city where Crystal Prep is, and two other nukes destroyed Manehattan and Las Pegasus back in Equestria, the pony-people of the EqG world found out they’re in the same war as the ponies. Many surviving Crystal Prep students joined the military, and Indigo Zap became an ace fighter pilot.
The EqG folks have a modern military with science and high technology to make up for their lack of magic, and compliment the ponies’ magic but lack of high technology perfectly. And soon an alliance of both will go through the portal to Earth and finish what the damn dirty ape bastards have started. But don’t worry, they’re not gonna wipe out humanity, they’ll only wipe out the corrupt individuals who are directly responsible for the war against ponykind.

I think that’s the point whoever made this picture tried to MAKE.
The sequel to the D&D movie as one example tried and failed at that, of course the original was crappy too. But I can’t think of a (good) movie example offhand, it seems to occur more often in books and video games (Mad Dog from the Virtua lightgun series and Dolf from Vandal Hearts come to mind) Either the hero succeeds in defeating the main antagonist in some way, allowing the right hand to take over/slay all the remaining loyalists, or they manage to make the main antagonist have second thoughts that the right-hand executes him for, or usurps in his absence since he’s ‘no longer committed to his own cause fully.’ Note: Kefka doesn’t count, you have to not be expecting the random violence and slaughter of innocents before the big twist scene.
@someguy111
Eh, none of that is really ‘super-futuristick-y’ though. The closest we come still to modern technology in the show is Twilight’s 1920’s mad scientist hookup that she probably built herself in Pinkie Keen, and might or might not have that arcade machine too, depending on if mechanical or electrical. Also, the CMC episodes seem to be ‘fluidly canon’ compared to mane 6 eps as they have much more nnachronistic happenings. Not sure if that’s intentional or it just worked out that way, but if it’s intentional it could be a way of saying ‘darker elements don’t exist in these eps, wacky hijinks are go!’
Nothing wrong with liking TCB stories. Heck, I even enjoyed some of Chat’s earlier stuff before she fell off the wagon and started preaching that humans had no souls and everything.
The more neutral ones are actually kinda good.
Agreed.
I got a feeling it was a (somewhat morbid) meta joke at the expense of cheap plotwriting that often makes villains do random, irrational evil deeds just to drive the point home to the audience, as in, “This dude is really evil, like, seriously, did you see him kill that random guy for no reason whatsoever? Yeah, so, like, you’re supposed to hate his guts.”
The comic does seem to ‘edge’ things up, doesn’t it?
They may have had her do that just to be “edgy” as the comic seems to paint the ponies in a more dark and serious tone. The very reason they had such cute and kind creatures were so she could kill them to show how evil she is and thus give some context to her evil desires. Really I think the comic was just trying all it could to make her as evil as possible, the wub-cats scene was really unnecessary for the story.
the wub-cats were willing to give love away and yet Chrysalis and her mooks genocide them and took their kingdom.
Very true, there are so many plotholes in the setting; we are shown they have 19th century tech yet they have a hydroelectric dam and modern construction equipment in Mare Do Well. I remember McCarthy stating that they put places and environments in the show just for the sake of the episode, even if they don’t make sense.
They slip all the time while writing dialogue, it’s not a big deal.
Like Dash wondering what “hands” are in the end of EqG although they mentioned them multiple times throughout the show.
