You’re forgetting that he’s TWILIGHT’S older brother.
He probably joined up as a flugelhorn player and then found out he had a natural talent for leadership.
That and his amazing shield powers meaning no casualties under his charge.
Fair enough, but still, a lot can change after High School. It wouldn’t be that much of a stretch to think Shining Armor would.

If next comic is a lot better than this, or shows that Shining was just making himself the victim, then MAAAYYBE I can forgive the mess in this one.
