You didn’t read the don’t bother he posted? I didn’t. Oh… he deleted those comments and the arguments within.
Welp, it’s been nine days and he still hasn’t come back from work. Says a lot, doesn’t it?
Well, neither was BJ Hunnicutt from MASH, and he ended up being a deeper and better (in my opinion) character than Trapper John was.
Tell you what: I can see your history just as much as anyone can, both here and elsewhere. Despite that, when I get back from work, I’ll rewrite every point I always make about the matter once more.
See you later.
I’m not sure about Lurks-no-more, but I’m more open to other’s opinions than you give me credit for. My first comment on this image was (and I quote directly):
“I don’t quite get all this Twilicorn hate because in reality, she hasn’t really changed much. Sure she’s a wee bit taller and has wings now, but her title as “Princess” seems to be by and large an honorary one, as she was pretty much royalty before Season 3 anyway.
She was the sole apprentice of Princess Celestia (who at the time was the only ruling monarch in Equestria) since before the pilot, and her brother Shining Armor was the captain of the royal guard. Aside from being recognized as royalty and actually governing Equestria, she pretty much had all the perks of being a princess since episode 1.
On top of all that, her wings are really just for looks as well, as Twilight already had the ability to levitate, teleport, and even reverse gravity by the Season 3 opener.
So….what exacting is the problem with Twilicorn?”
To which I immediately received replies that the show would instantaneously shift from the shared spotlight/focus slice of life show we have now to a three-minute commercial for Princess Twilight toys and everything goes to shit.
I would hardly call my initial thoughts on the matter “attacks”. So I’ll say it again:
Explain to me what makes Magical Mystery Cure a poorly written episode. Convince me.
Not at all: I am saying discussing with a person who begins the discussion by saying “things are like this because I say so, argue otherwise and I’ll ignore it” is a flawed proposition, and you have shown multiple times, even in this very picture.
Arguing rationally begins by defending each and every choice you use to get there and gathering evidence to support it, something you tend to ignore to do, and when called out, say the other person is simply not seeing the obvious.
It’s not a matter of victory either, you fellows are the one that come along and attack whomever disagrees with you, so winning against you is in on itself a losing proposition. I would know, this is the third time we meet and it gets less entertaining every time.
So, keep at it? Disgruntlement still exists and little to nothing you have done has helped it. On the other hand, people have been leaving in good quantities from the show watching population, so perhaps you have succeeded. I don’t care, it’s just good to know I won’t waste an hour writing something for you to do your usual thing.
I would think it was quite obvious what I meant with my reply. But ignoring that, what you’re doing here is basically saying that since I have different premises than you do, I cannot argue rationally about this issue.
I’m not going to bother with you anymore. Feel free to declare victory if that makes you happy.
I believe you didn’t read the question mate, as it wasn’t one which you can answer just yes or no.
But, for sake of argument:
Look down. If you are truly in the mindset Twilight was always the main character, despite shared focused and general use as an audience surrogate rather than general show linchpin (a la power rangers, xaolin showdown and their ilk), you already have set a very important precedent: you conclude that MMC is valid because of this a priori bias.
And your comments, when dealing with this, are constantly the same thing.
You call it fear of change, while the argument has nothing to do with the change itself but rather the lack of execution undermining the whole change. And that wasn’t here, this was in your previous discussion ground. You grab hold of something and ignore the rest, and hope people bother to sit down to discuss with you.
And you expect me to make a repeat of that? Again, after all, you didn’t read the question right this time and are constantly ignoring post and just making presumptions of intent. Is that a person you can discuss with?
Oh, all in due time, I am just curious to see how far you go. So, let me rephrase: are you actually willing to change your mind about the matter, and do your previous posts support that? Or are you merely saying that because you know it would undermine your position?
Looking at all your posts right now, by the way. What do you think is there?
Can’t speak about Twinhead-B, but in my own case I’d say “yes”. Of course, I’m rather dubious that you would agree with me on this…
You wanna get to the part where you actually explain your argument, or are you still trying to think of one?
@Twinhead-B
Just a quick question before I bother to write a long response detailing everything wrong with it (again…), if I go exploring into your posting history will I find reasonable responses to all the previous times you two have had this discussion, or will I just be you two saying “well, that’s wrong”?
Because, I sort of already know the answer, but I’m just curious how self-aware you are.
I’d just give up, mate.
Obviously it’s easier to go around shouting “Magical Mystery Cure is bad! Ruined forever!” than it is to give a logical, concise argument as to why.
This would come off a lot better if you dropped the condescending faux erudition and actually made arguments backed by evidence, instead of declaring things you don’t like as so self-evidently bad that no reasonable person can disagree with you.
The real irony is that your last few comments have been standard, empty reactions I’ve seen so many times before, all around the internet.
Going off about how terrible MMC is despite the image having nothing to do with the episode is annoying.
You’ve still yet to explain why it’s bad, so it’s very difficult to take you “argument” seriously.
Actually explain why it’s bad, maybe you’ll convince me. So far, all you’ve really said is that it’s badly written because it’s badly written.
Ah, the second standard and empty reaction: well if you now don’t like it, leave so we can act like you never did, because apparently my negative opinion will actively make the show worse for you. A position which doesn’t make sense because if you truly enjoy the show and think it is all hot air, nothing I say should get to you. In fact, very much like haters of yore, they get ignored instead rather than attacked or asked to leave. But no, you instead claim my “bitching”, for there seems to be a lack of a proper response and using this makes your lives easier, makes it annoying for you. You know what it really looks like? Like you don’t response to it, and you read it and fear it might be true, but no, I cannot allow that to be so, so instead you go into the offensive and try to silence those voices, lest their “crimethought” infect others.
But hey, I’m just making assumptions about other’s motivations without any evidence what so ever, and making insulting statements out of them. For shame.
@Twinhead-B
I do hope you can read again, but I won’t hold my breath in that regard, but I’ll simply state: that term you used there? It doesn’t mean what you think it means.
What argument?
You simply compared MLP’s writing to Michael Bay’s as a blanket statement for why the show is bad.
If it’s that bad, why are you still here?
The only reason I can see is so you can cry and moan about things like “how terrible the show has become” or how “they’ve ruined Twilight Sparkle” and then not provide any sort of argument to back your claims.
If you don’t like the show anymore, leave. Or at the very least (and I’m not talking to you specifically) stop bitching about MMC, as it’s annoying for the rest of us.
Standard reaction with absolutely no though put into it. Not even a consideration of the argument. Dismisal, misreading, denail, and self-stroking. This, my friends, is why MTV is what it is today; this is why all the shows and movies are the way they are today.
No, I’m pretty sure you’re just pissed off at change and overreacting.
