I would prefer a color draw of harem anthro Rarity, that side of the character from the MLS comic deserves to be expanded upon.

i dont like dark skined Rarity. and i will never do. its just not fit with her.

I have no issue with the objective facts that people may see more light-skinned than dark-skinned people in everyday life, based on where they live, nor that individuals may have individual preferences. I’m just leery of one tone being an unmarked default and the other being a marked ‘other.’

How about just enjoy the picture and nevermind the fact that she has dark skin?

I normally don’t like “BBW” Rarity. But I can’t deny the artist made her look good here.

In North America and Europe, where MLP is made and where most fanartists are from, Light skin (White, Caucasian, Cracker, whatever term you want to use) is the majority, even if the PC-police pretend otherwise. In other words, it’s the “default”, and is what most people naturally prefer, even if they’re not Klan/BNP/UKIP/FN/etc members.

In other words, there’s nothing wrong with preferring light-skinned humanizations, and anyone who says otherwise is probably an American with too much PC drummed into them (Political Correctness and the ideal of Diversity are a very big deal in the States).

Most art of humanized ponies are created so that the ponies are white. If a person likes humanized art at all, then they probably enjoy light-skinned art. However, in part due to, er, “personal preferences” or due to brightly colored hairstyles looking odd on humanoids, people may want to avoid the dark-skinned humanizations. So the tag is added for filtering purposes. It’s not the norm. It’s not as redundant as tagging most pictures with “Pony” or the Mane Six as female, but there is an assumption that humanized art will have white characters unless we can draw a comparison to the equivalent in the real world (e.g., Zecora as being “African,” Sapphire Shores as being a “Pop” diva.)

(Think about the porn tag “Ebony” or “Asian.” You’re not likely to see the tag “White” as often. Unless it’s stated otherwise, it’s assumed the porn actress is Caucasian.)

I have no issue with having a “light-skinned” tag that’s used frequently. You may just be in the mood to see dark-skinned humanizations or light-skinned humanizations one day or there may be a couple of users who just plain don’t like white humanizations.

If you’re going to do it at all, then do it completely, but that would be a hard sell to most uploaders. The thought either never crosses their minds or they don’t want to go through the trouble when most prefer white humanizations (if they aren’t opposed to darker skinned ones.)

In any case, I think you have a point, but that’s not going to happen in practice.

“dark skin”
Well, there’s a tag I didn’t know about… and it has a hundred times as many pics as “light skin” does. Huh.
