Ok, now that was an accurate guess, but by any chance, do you know if it’s temporal or the change is permanent?…..
They have chubby cheeks and appear to be more cartoonish than Monster High.
But yeah, the Monster High audience likes their werewolves glitzed up, their mummies mostly unwrapped (but not decayed at all) and their medusas male and non-threatening.
Millenials don’t watch old monster movies because they genuinely enjoy them. They watch them to be ironic and laugh at them. The same goes for nearly every popular film. I doubt the audience of Monster High would actually enjoy the stories the dolls are based on, they would find them “corny” and “dated.”
That is exactly how it happens.

And as far as monster high goes, the universal monsters have been done so much that they’ve been kind of a joke to the general populous for, what, 50 years?
If anything something like those dolls would broaden the audience for the originals. Little girls who grow up to wonder what the inspiration for their favorite doll was.
This makes me feel like a grumpy old man.
Stuff like that and EqG are what the market wants. May not be what we want, may not be appealing to us, but it’s not designed to be. To the target demo, that is just the ultimate cool thing.
Well, this is what the offspring of movie monsters would look like if teenage girls had their way.
I still maintain that the EqG dolls are more terrifying. They look like lobotomy patients.
Also the Monster High stuff makes me cry because of my deep, deep love of the old Universal Horror flicks.

EqG dolls strike me as a mix of these and your standard Barbie.
I knew the toys would be bad, but I didn’t think they’d anorexic horror beasts, with their blank staring eyes and lifeless smiles…
That’s because they transform in the movie…
