I was hoping that if the Mane 5 try to be reasonable (or something) to Discord , some magic will turn him young again and his broken goat horn will come back to its original spot on his head, so his appearance will look just like the same he used to be back in Generation 4.

The cover is very bland, yet very profound. We see Discord happily where he and the Mane 5 are surrounded by the cutie marks of the Mane 6, in something reminiscent of a crystal catacomb taken straight from the Crystal Empire. These cutie marks possibly reveal that the Mane 6 after their deaths have not gone away forever. It can be a monument where the Mane 6 are both remembered and can be contracted. That might explain why Discord looks happy, with Fluttershy’s cutie marks moving freely.

Since Twilight Sparkle’s cutie mark is there, that means she might be gone too. Although E2 in MYM C2 has left an enigma that could suggest she still plays a role in G5 - and it’s possible that it’s of the indirect variety. We don’t know where this place is, but I think the Unity Crystals might be a hint.

This may be the last time Discord appears, because he wants to find peace in his soul, and thus can join his friends. Because he had weighed the Mane 5 and found them worthy of the legacy of the previous generation.
