*shrank (or “has shrunk”). Sorry, the Grammar Nazi in me just couldn’t let that one go. xD

In each generation, the muzzle shrunk. So G5 will have a smaller to non-existent one. Just a bump to hint at a muzzle.
 
In each generation, the head got rounder. So G5 will have an even rounder head.
 
In each generation, the body shrunk, but has slowed down the shrinkness. So G5 will have a more streamlined body, but it won’t be much smaller.
 
In each generation, the cutie mark has been simplified. It has fluctuated, but overall it has lowered in complexity (7 apples to 3 apples), no outline and only 2 colours seems to be overall style.
 
In each generation, the eyes has grown, ignoring the G3.5. So G5 will have larger eyes. The geometric shape will be a symmetric lens.
 
In each generation, the hind legs are less and less pronounced, making them more straight. So G5 will have it even straighter than G4.
 
…overall, I think G3.5 has a closer look to what the trend of G5 will look like.

If we’re going down this road, somebody needs to replace the G2 Pony with a G2 Transformer. :)

The differences are there. Slightly different body shape, head and eyes. Also the position of the ears.

And as for the joke in One Piece, G-5 is a branch of the Marine. The guy up there is part of it.

To be honest, I’m looking at the G3.5 and the G4 models, and I’m not really seeing much of a difference in proportions between them…  
…also as I’m not a One Piece fan, whatever the joke about G5 is meant to be is going straight over my head. >_>

All the other generations before were cute (though g2 weren’t AS cute, which is probably why they didn’t do as well), and then….g3.5.
