The story Misty told us says they ‘took’ her power. Opaline is most likely lying since there is more to it than “I’m such a good pony and they drained my magic”. But they sure drained her magic.
The Mane Five didn’t do anything with her power. It was Twilight.
OR she had an epic battle with the Ancient Elements, and she ended up losing most of her adept magic, leaving her unable to apply her magic at her maximum potential, kind of like a buffer
