I’m glad people are enjoying it. And enjoying Sonata. Weeeee!
“nine pony morris”
Nice!
You’re literally the first person to point that out to me in my entire life. But my problem isn’t just with blue. It’s with almost any in-between colors. I have difficulty interpreting different shades and tints.
It never ceases to amaze me how much attention some people who read my stuff pay to details. :) (It just means I have to try hard to get everything right as much as I can!)
You’ve put a lot of thought into this! That is definitely an area that I haven’t explored enough. I shall have to think on that…
I too am partially colorblind. I have trouble differentiating various shades and in-between colors. For instance a family car we used to have looked silver to me. But it was actually silver with a bit of purple in it. And I never noticed until someone pointed it out and made me look closely.
Good point(s). Among other things, I have been meaning to have Sonata confuse the boys by referencing coin operated arcade machines. And a long, long time ago, she’d be all about daughts and nine-pony-morris and that sort of thing. And chess, but she’s not great at it. Gamer for life!
Honestly I think you’re doing fine with things. If you stayed looking like you were 20 years old for centuries, you wouldn’t cling to much of past generations. People mostly feel nostalgia for past decades because they look back on youth. But if you were forever young, each decade would just be like reading a chapter in a book to you when you look back on it. The Sirens adapted to each generation because they lived a very nomadic lives until recently. They had no time to stop anywhere and get attached to anyone or anything until they lost most of their powers. To them an apartment from the 70s isn’t nostalgic, or old, or retro. It’s just an ordinary apartment. And they treat it as such. If anything the 70s style background colors help the colors of their skin, hair and clothes pop. Kinda like how in the Cat In The Hat how they made sure not to use certain colors for anything other than what was related to the cat. I love the retro apartment as a setting. And would like to see the Sirens show familiarity with some older stuff like vinyl records and 8 bit video games, or even feather pens. But I wouldn’t make them nostalgic for them. Thus far they’ve not shown nostalgia for anything other than how they used to live as predators when they still fed off negativity. The future of how they adapt and find ways to deal with their boredom other than sex and singing is what I’m curious about. Well…That and whether or not their lifespans and biology was effected by losing their gems.
Yeah, I’m kinda glossing over HUGE “generation gap” issues by just saying the Sirens are apparently really good at keeping up with the times.
